I work at home half the time, in underpants. Theater scrubs and lead aprons can be very jolly nowadays, especially in pediatric hospitals, but clown shoes would be a no-no even if they were sterile. Provided I have a hard hat and boots, I don't think anyone would mind if my construction site overalls had baggy trousers with big patches. Clowns in suits do turn up from time to time, brandishing inspectoral warrants from the Health & Safety Executive.

On Take Your Daughter to Work Day a little girl walked into the office, looked around, and burst into tears.

With so many clowns in circulation I think turning up in a clown suit would go unnoticed.
