Assuming no health risks....Would you partake in consuming Dolly the cloned sheep ?

Only with mint sauce Neil, think we got a lamb shoulder for dinner today. But if memory serves me well, Dolly is already a haggis running around on the highlands dodging the odd tosser (of cabre's).

Don't particularly like mutton or lamb. Now, if it were beef or pork (or venison), then that would be another matter.
I can well imagine a time in the future where meat is grown in vitro rather than in vivo, and that meat would probably be some form of cloned tissue. I don't think this is so much a case that meat manufacturers would suddenly decide that growing cows, sheep, etc. is immoral; it is simply a matter of economics; why grow a whole cow when all you want is some bits of meat; and it will be much easier to create a consistency of product if grown in vitro.

This is definitely going to happen. "in-vitro meat" is already under development, largely driven by the space-race.
The next phase of space exploration are longer voyages to more distant destinations, such as Mars. The journeys involved will last years and anyone who has experienced astronaut food knows that it's not a long-term option ! So researchers are looking for a way to mass produce meat cheaply and in a compact fashion.
At the same time environmentalists are eager to pursue methods of meat production which will enable us to cut the number of ruminant animals (cows especially) because they contribute about 20% of the annual carbon dioxide production attributable to man. They are also potent sources of methane (alongside green plants, as we heard this week).
And those with an eye for a quick buck are eager to produce a vegetarian-friendly "meat".
The solution ? Researchers are trying to grow animal muscle cells in the dish. The problem they have come across is how to "exercise" their cultures because in animals it's use that builds muscles by stimulating the production of muscle proteins. The other slight problem they are stuggling with is that the results of their attempts so far have made eating raw sewage seem like a tastier option. But I'm sure these minor hurdles will be surmounted before too long. Until then, I suppose there's always "chop suey" pot noodle...no, on second thoughts, I'll go for the "chop sewage".

Not convinced this one is going to work – maybe for a very small percentage of vegetarians, but I don't think for most.
I would have thought the guys who really would have liked this are the supermarkets, because they can tailor the product with high precision and high consistency (not the same as high quality – just a guarantee that each batch will be exactly the same as the previous batch).

Yes, I can imagine taste, as well as trace nutrient value, would be a problem. In the in-vivo muscle, it is bathed in a soup of all sorts of things produced by the adrenal glands, pituitary glands, liver, and numerous other organs.

This might be a silly question but would meat produced in-vitro..be vegetarian also ?
I know you've touched upon it but it's not as if the in-vitro meat itself has specifically come from a live animal...though I can see that it's derivatives are based in live animal heritage.
