Can bacteria play the part of being a host to a virus?

Can bacteria be a host and interact with a virus?
Maybe form some sort of bactrus or virteria (word play)

Viruses specialized to infect bacteria are called bacteriophages. They have been studied extensively and are used as a tool for molecular genetics research. When we catch a virus, the infection actually takes place in our cells, and the effect on individual bacteria and our infected cells is similar. Steve
