Title: electromagnetic attraction over distance
Post by: clembo128 on 12/01/2013 19:20:29
what kind of magnet (bitter, superconducting?) could raise a 50kg person off the floor from 3.5m away if the person held a 5kg iron disc ? how strong would the magnet have to be and how much power would it need ?
thankyou for any replies.

At a guess I think a 3T MRI magnet would probably do the job you see many pictures of things that have been sucked in.
Superconducting magnets consume no power once the initial current has been fed into them but a lot of power is needed for refrigeration.
