Its fully sealed and even staked gas system, out in the field? Even with its noncorrosive primers.
We had to clean ours every day!
The M1 carbine is a very handy little gun I know as I had one for a short time until Australian law required me to hand it in. I shot about 200 rounds from mine and can say as little as I got from it it worked just fine. Jacketed projectiles are a must and with the standard 110 gr are good for light game. I think but without experience, the M1 will operate without problem for many thousands of rounds needing only a light field clean and oiling. This gun was designed to slow the enemy and not so much to kill. Mine was made by a company named Post meter in 1942. The original manufacturer was/is Winchester. PS. I think it would shoot thousands if need be without cleaning provided it has not been in the mud.
