I don't think you will get a correct picture without it ColinThe danger is not keeping clarity that they are separate causes. Lumping them together, even though they might appear together, blurs the true causes and leads to the conclusion that it’s all geopolitical. Which it is not.
As for economy I agree, it's a indivisible part of all geopolitics.Although they often go together they are also often separate, not a good idea to consider them indivisible as it leads to woolly thinking.
