I wonder if one day anti-matter and matter annhilation can power powerplants and produce enough electricity to power the earth as an alternate source of energy instead of fossil fuels, uranium or plutonium

At the moment we have to put energy in to make the anti-matter. Which means there is potential for using the technology as batteries with really high energy density. We cannot use anti-matter as power sources unless some-one finds some anti-matter we can grab for free.
