The very first time I became pregnant, maybe 5 seconds following intercourse and while my husband was still inside of me, we both felt a sudden, rapid increase in the temperature of my vagina. In fact, it was on fire. It was so pronounced that my husband got scared and actually jumped off of me and told me I was evil - so we both felt the very same thing.
I eventually learned I was pregnant, and though we had intercourse several more times over the next couple of weeks, I feel certain that the pregnancy occurred during this event.
Did we feel the moment of conception?

I'm not sure what you're asking me here. We both had reached and completed orgasm, and he just crashed on top of me. It was about 5 seconds later that we both felt the temperature of my vagina suddenly and rapidly increase. It was not gradual - it was immediate and intense, so I do not believe it had anything to do with friction.

no, friction isn't quite the area of physics I was alluding to; more like in physiology, the various hormones/neurotransmitters or what have you causing an alteration of the local structures that allow you to perceive things. Like nerve endings haven gone up in their sensitivity and all of that type of thing, resulting from the orgasmic state having been entered. But then again, just speculating.....certainly not physical friction......

The only problem with that theory is I never felt that sensation again after that with future orgasms.

Even if some kind of exothermic reaction occurs when a sperm penetrates an egg, which it doesn't, it would be much to small for you to be able to feel it.

Concetption can happen perfectly well in a test tube. The parents are not really involved at that point. How would there be anything to feel?

Perhaps just a rogue wave of pleasure.
Some women swear they can feel 'implantation', I'm sceptical, but wouldn't rule out other indicators that later lead to a false memory or selective recollection.

The problem with that theory is that my ex-husband felt it, too - and last time I checked, he had a penis, not a vagina - so please don't try to blame it on the hallucinogenic effects of my estrogen and that 'x' chromosome of mine.
And bored chemist, I'd like to see them produce life in a test tube without a living sperm and ovum - and without implanting it in the womb of a woman. And the parents are not involved at that point? - for 9 months the mother is involved at least.
I think it is likely that when these two cells joined, they produced heat, which is what the two of us felt.

Nobody said anything like that so I'm not sure what you are on about (nothing new there).
The first "test tube" baby was born while I was at school. I don't know how many there are now but my guess would be many thousands.

The parents are not generally the ones holding the petri dish. The point is that the 2 cells fuse without any external influence- it would be possible, if unlikely, for this to happen after the parents were dead.
Given the size of an egg and sperm cell there's just no way they could generate enough heat to notice. Just as well really because, if they did, they would be cooked.

Blaze, you seemed determined for one of us to agree with you. Yet anyone with basic knowledge of anatomy (and probably physics) will know that what you are concluding is near impossible to be detected, even if it did occur.
To the egg and sperm.. the womb is big. Mind- bogglingly big. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to the egg/sperm journey. (with apologies to Douglas Adams)
Anyway, something that does happen is that the cervix dips during orgasm, perhaps there was some movement that you both interpreted as heat transfer?

but implantation is different to conception.

Heat feels like heat. I felt heat. He felt heat. It wasn't movement we felt - a 'dipping cervix' (?) - we were finished - as in done.
I'd say that what I felt was due to my electrosensitivities, but he felt it, too.
I'm not taking this thread into test tube babies either.

If it is the electro sensitivity then physical laws direct us to where to explore: electrons being freed causes ionization and the free energy will be the heat perceived, right?

i don't see how you could have felt it...nothing is attached to your body at that point. the egg is travelling along minding its own business and then the sperm come and join it...but nothing is attached to the woman until at least a few days later, right? implantation happens a little later on....i thought...

Well if you're going to choose what to believe regardless of science then why ask us? But I bet if we did come up with a feasable scientific explanation you wouldn't ignore the science then.
