Title: Can the sensitivity of a smoke alarm be reduced.
Post by: paul.fr on 31/01/2008 13:54:50
here is the problem, whenever i cook the damn smoke alarm thinks it will be great fun to sound, thus alerting the neighbours to my inadequacy in the colournary department. So i ask, can you adjust the sensitivity? Or should i just order out?

Stop flambe-ing !

Rather than turn the smoke alarm down, turn your gas/hob temperature down and don't overdo food
You do not have to incinerate food to cook it.

it's tricky business messing with your smoke alarm as when you need it it won't work properly.
Take care -

Our alarm seems to be sensitive to steam so we have to keep the kitchen door closed at all times. What a pain in the butt that is with 2 brats constantly running in & out "Is dinner ready yet?"... BEEP BEEP BEEP, BEEP BEEP BEEP... grrrrrrr  [:(!]

At our house, the smoke detector going off is a good indication that dinner is ready.

It's connected to the mains with battery back-up. Damned thing goes off if I leave the kitchen door open to make coffee too!

Try another position for it - but not as far away as the bottom of the garden.
