I'm one of the newer members of this forum, And I feel as if i'm out of my league in scientific knowledge...
Who thinks that I'm smart enough for this forum?
Or differently put, Who thinks I'm smart for a Freshman in high school?
E=MC2... m=deg/360 X C... C= PiD
therefore E=deg/360 X 2(PiD)

haha, what a question! [;)]
how old are you?
ya i guess your pretty smart for a high school student, i did think you were older than that, and for sure you will become smarter after college or university. I know that the avg IQ for university graduates is 15 points higher than the avg for highschool grads.
cheers buddy

This forum is for discussion and learning about science. It is not intended for geniuses but for anyone with an interest in science. If you have an interest in science, then that is all that counts. If, by sticking around here a while, you feed your interest in science, and in a years time realise that you know more about science than you knew a year previously, then this site has achieved what it set out to do.
I am not going to get into whether you are smart or not – there are many people on this forum with various levels of understanding of science, and many with far less than you, and many with more than you. One might even argue that if you were the brightest guy here, then what would you have to learn by sticking around here (OK, that is simplistic, since even the brightest is capable of learning from the dumbest, simply because the dumbest may ask a question that had not occurred to the brightest to ask).

Hehehe
Of course you are!!
Maybe not necessarily with science even thought I bet you know more than me and many of us here with your 6000+ posts [;)] but what do u call it? Socially smart? Haha, EQ??
Somehow you manage to keep us entertained with good questions, and funny comments, and that’s not easy at all is it? (ya okay maybe for you [:D] ) anyway I say it takes a really smart person to do that, this website owes a lot to you Neil
I know there are many others too that put an effort here, thanks guys, good stuff [;)]

I'm actually quite embarrassed by my number of posts...and am humbled by your compliments...truth be told, if it were not for the friendly tone of this site I probably would have been told to **** off ages ago !..the people who run this site are most generous in their cordiality as are the other academic members who post the most wonderful fascinating information which quite honestly leaves me agog and in awe of their expertise and knowledge.
I just have a curiosity that's all but like to think my area of speciality is within the realms of human interaction and the understanding thereof...not that I'm trained or anything.....but then...anybody's skills are really how other people perceive them...
You're a great lad...
Thanks Laith....

That about sums me up also. I am merely a computer programmer (or would be as soon as someone chooses to employ me again), so what do I know about science. That I have the chutzpah to convince others that I know what I'm talking about merely makes me feel like a fraud. Maybe I remember a bot more of what I was taught at school of uni than some others (I must admit that some of the electronics questions of late has had me delving into the recesses of my mind for things I last referred to over 25 years ago), but I must say that since I have been on this site, I have also learnt a fair deal myself, either from what others on the site have said, or because it gave me cause to hunt around for answers elsewhere.

I don't know the IQ of anything or any one and frankly I don't care, but I do absolutely Love this forum and love learning all this new information every day! You are never to old to expand your mind and human nature and human interaction is all part of that evolution of the brain! I think everyone on here adds to the enrichment of my ever growing intelligence! I hope to continue on every day of my life!.....Karen

Indeed, maybe the best thing about a forum like this is that it illustrates how knowledige is one of the few goods that increase by sharing them. And an inquesitive mind is one of the things that keep a person young.
