"For every action there is an equal and opposite re-action". That's 1 of Newton's laws - but don't ask me which.

What it means is that if a force is applied in 1 direction, there is an equal force in the opposite direction. So, when the water shoots out of the nozzle of the hose, the nozzle is pushed back with equal force.

Sort of.
