Title: How Bright Can The Brighty Stuff On My Watch Get ?

Dearest Luminologists,

At approx 1:50am I shone my new extra brighty torch at my watch. It made my watch shine so much that I was able to take the below piccy.

The Picture Above Is The Piccy Mentioned Above As being Viewed Below That Sentence !



As ewe can see ...it's well bright...

I've never had a torch this bright before so I have never been able to get watch brighty stuff to get as bright as that before !...so my kweschuns are..

How Bright Can Watch Brighty Stuff Get ?..oh..Is it safe when it gets that bright ? Ie radiation stuff !

It was bright enough to cast a shadow !

I once had a flourescent divers watch and found that it fluoresced more after exposure to ultraviolet light.  (At a club in Tenerife)  It fluoresced so much that by the end of my holiday it wouldn't flouresc at all.

Perhaps you were using a led torch with some ultraviolet in the spectrum?

Luminescence (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luminescence) is not necessarily radioluminescence (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radioluminescence), yours is phosphorescence (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phosphorescence).

[radioluminescent watch dials were used in the past, they do not need to be exposed to light to glow, phosphorescent types need to be exposed to light to glow ]

Thanks Mike...Yep..it's an LED torch !

Gosh !...so you're watch wall all fluoresced out ?...I didn't realise they could literally run out of glow !......sounds like ewe had a great time !!

Ah !..thanks RD....so I guess my watch is safe !....phew !....do you think it can get any brighter though if exposed to an even brighter light source ?
