I heard recently that shaving does not make your body hair get stronger. I was always told that the opposite was true. I have noticed that the more I shave my legs the thicker the hair has become but scientists have reported that this as a myth. I'm confused and as the Clash sang should I shave or should I grow now? [???] If I shave there will be stubble but if I grow it will be double, so come on baby let me know, should I shave or should I grow?

wax is the obvious answer. It seems to work for about 6 weeks and even then the growth is not as bad. (I used to be a cyclist...ok)

the length, colour, thickness and distribution of your hair is genetically predetermined.
Shaving does not cause hair to grow back thicker. it does cut it blunt, which would make it seem thicker than a tapered end.
waxing removes the hair from the root, so it takes longer for the hair to reappear and it grows with a taper so it seems finer and lighter.
if shaving made hair thicker and stronger, then bald men would do it more often.

You got that right

I waxed my lady mustash (being a dark haired beauty) and it definitely grew back thicker. I'm still not convinced. Also why do older ladies sometimes start growing a beard. I haven't got one yet but if I do it will be the perfect excuse to run away and join the circus.

hi. I have some stray hairs on my chin. there used to be just one... I pluked it there were four I plucked them there were ten, i plucked them..... so even plucking single hairs the problems got worse, but i believe it is hormones and not the plucking that caused the growth. It just happened that my body was changing and my female and male hormone level was just mixed up with my time of life...That is my uneducated opinin! !

What about hair growing out of your nose and ears when you get older. What causes that? My Dad said that he went bald because he pulled on the hairs in his ears and it all threaded through! [:o)]Don't think this was a good scientific answer. Still need some answers on my very luxuriant hair problems.
