First consulting job.... what am I doing?
«

I just managed to get my first real job working for a consulting firm. They do environmental, geotechnical and civil engineering work (amongst others).
I am just interested in knowing what I am in for. Does everyone feel completely inadequate in their first job? No one has made me feel this way..... I just do. [:I]

Don't worry! I think everyone feels the same way when they start a new job. Anyone who walks in the door and thinking they know all the answers usually does not last very long.
I'm sure they hired you because they think you can learn quickly, and that you will work hard.

I think everyone has self doubts when put into a new job situation. There is also the excitement of doing something you love.
Just remember, your employer had no doubts about your experience and/or training when they hired you.
Best of luck and welcome to the forum- and feel free to use these discussions for any guidance or to help with problems you may encounter.

i hire and train alot of people, i much prefer a person who wants to do well, rather then some one that has the skill but ONLY does what is, they think, is the minimum, you'll do well im sure, i pick my team because they do the job well! and hire because they will achieve, good luck nerves means you want. you were hired for the skill
