Dear all
I'm trying to learn a bit about what brings people here and how everyone discovered our site in the first place.
This is because I'm looking for ways to effectively grow our community here, and your suggestions and experiences would be valuable to know about.
Thank you for your help

I responded in 2007 from a Google search for a science answer, in my case a rare disorder medical answer.
TNS stood out because very little info was available anywhere. And only one individual had posted here at the time.
I think the above pattern still holds true for most of the subsequent thread readers.

None of the above. A Quora question on Eric Verlinde's entropic gravity sent me on a Google scavenger hunt, and a thread here was one of the results.
I hate this clunky slow board.

The podcast.

Heard Chris on Radio Cambridge quite by chance several years ago.

I can not click vote to any of your answers, I came here by web search when I ran out of forums to discuss things on, people like this forum for that very reason, can I suggest you add - because freedom of speech is pretty much allowed here.
I am glad I found you,

I didn't want to participate in the normal science forums with psychomods whose only goal is to assert their personal authority and ridicule others. I googled found this site .. am so far very pleased with the moderation, the acceptance of new ideas in principle of respect that everyone has an opinion and should be given the opportunity to present it .. the near lack of insults by participants .. etc. It's a great place so far .. science is sure to advance because of this forum.

I think I was searching info on dark matter when an article from TNS came to my attention. To be honest I liked the name of 'naked science' [:I] just to find out how much I enjoyed some of the posts here. As an amateur astronomer and science enthusiast I would try to share me insights and knowledge with this community.
