Title: Stupid microsoft, or something else!!!
Post by: paul.fr on 27/08/2007 20:26:17
I just turned the laptop on, and for some reason it was no booting straight to the only account set up on it.

There was only one account "visable", after accessing the account i had a look around. I then find that another account has been created, without my knowledge! The account was under the user name of "ASP.NET".

I know what asp.net is, but why has it created a seperate, password protected account on my laptop?

Only 1 user account? Does that mean you run at administrator level when you're on the net? That's a bit risky. You should always have at least 1 limited privileges account.

An account with limited privileges can't do anything that alters the registry. That stops a lot of malware dead in its tracks. Running as administrator leaves you open to attack.

Admin, yes. i just hate multiple user accounts, the thing needs to boot in seconds and be ready to go. i am rather impatient.

I have plenty of protection, and stuff, delete all files 35 times, delete all spare hdd space 35 times a week, daily spyware and malaware, ports regularly tested.........
