Hi all,
Hamdani you raise a interesting scenario,

Energy will flow until equilibrium is achieved.
It was already at equilibrium.

I am not sure that statement is totally correct, if you consider the energy imbalance between the two sides as described,
for example the latent heat/energy is unbalanced as is the kinetic energy of the molecules, also the density's.

As regards spirit-levels, in the past they were simple devices.  Just a glass tube filled with greenish liquid, and on the surface of the liquid, an air-bubble.

This bubble could be observed against black-lines etched, or painted, on the glass tube. Thus enabling levelness to be established simply, and optically.  By just looking at it.  Without any electrical input from batteries.

Has this changed in modern times - are "spirit-levels" now electronic devices, which have to be fitted with batteries?

Is that progress?
I think you are right simple is the best way with one exception to getting a level over a large distance optics or electronics are beneficial.

Oh dear I think my comment fell on stoney ground.

So to be a little less abstract, I was referring to a traditional spirit level, if you find where the battery goes please share here as I’m sure each manufacturers different 🤣

Physics, Astronomy & Cosmology / Re: Problems with PopSci articles in GR. Should we stop using one example?
« on: 20/05/2021 19:19:25 »
Hi all,
Yes thanks for that Colin, I totally agree, your actually, stating something that was also said in a previous post:
(Energy is the currency of the physical world)
😎

In regards to ES having a problem with the use of a ‘thought experiment/ analogy’ of the Sun disappearance, I believe there are lots of examples of these used through out mans development of theories, and Einstein/Newton are documented to having resorted to using them, to great benefit.

Hi Phil
The equation and relevant information you require to calculate it is in the link provided

boppity boppity time.
Is that a medical term?

Great stuff this spam. So, do you eat it or just smear it all over??

I believe the culinary experts would recommend it as an aid for battering  ;)
just before you deep fat fry it ::)

Spam fritters for everybody.
wonder if they do a mars bar version ?

Twice, I believe,

In regards to the original post, consider when was the last time you replaced the battery's for your spirit level.
