Title: Which Thread Breaks? Using inertia to your advantage - Kitchen Science

If you suspend a bottle in the middle of a piece of cotton then pull on the end of the cotton, where will it break?  It isn't as simple as you might think...

Similarly it is possible to tear loo-paper one handed using a sharp pull - either it tears or it unravels a lot! ;D
