Title: MRCP II MADE EASY
Post by: kay halloway on 13/09/2010 16:33:06
MRCP II MADE EASY is an excellen book which I chanced at the Internal Medicine section. It is written by a Harvard trained Physician who is also a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP ).  The novel interweaves his ( case files ) tales with medical and pathology knowledge.
Each story is like an episode of House MD and it is written ins the style of Crichton, Robin Cook and Frank Herbert. The book is about compassion . Some of the things written will make you cry and others may make you happy but it is about the truism of life. My wife and 2 kids enjoy it as it is written for the layman and Professionals alike. In the spirit of goodwill it is a charity book which will save the lives of many AIDS patients. The description of Prion disease ( junk with no genetic material ), the case of the Jacob Creutzfeld disease ( from a person who took unsterilised pituitary growht hormone ) and the sad tale of the nurse who contracted HIV because of an ingrown toenail was sad.

That sounds like an interesting book.

It sounds like one I much enjoyed called "The House of God" by Samuel Shem. This is one of those fictional (?) accounts of an intern year at a hospital very similar to Beth Israel.

Besides being informative it is a scream.
