It depends. If you are sufferning from a deficiency of it then it's useful. If not then it's somewhere between pointless and toxic.

And what is the criterea to determine if one has a deficiency of Vitamin E? More to the point, I was wondering what the benefits are since I think some of the claims - like anti-oxidizing properties -  were exaggerated or ill founded in the past.

Vitamin E has indeed been disappointing in many clinical trials.

I realise this is a circular definition.
