Mix/ dissolve it in water.
Add excess of a solution of  sodium carbonate (washing soda).
Filter off the bismuth carbonate.
Wash it a couple of times with sodium carbonate solution.
Wash with water.
Heat it to decompose the carbonate to get the oxide.

But I'm curious- where did you get bismuth chloride from?

A guy had some samples he gave me

If all you want is a sample for an element collection, you can probably precipitate calcium fluoride from the mouthwash by adding a soluble calcium salt such as the acetate.

There is not very much fluoride in mouthwash.

Its just for element collection sample. Can you share a link or can you describe a bit in detail how to do it I mean what happens after calcium acetate

When you heat Mno2 decomposes to Mno. What about Mn2O3 which is manganese 3 oxide. And it has a low melting point. So if I mix aluminum oxide + mn2O3 will it loeer aluminum oxide melting point to a lower temperature range because Mn2O3 has a melting point of 808 C

Guys be patient with I am still learning chemistry

I was talking abouit mangansese dioxide and aaluminuim oxide. I read somehere that aluiminum oxide melting point can be reduced to 1520 C hen mixed with mangannese oxide which has a melting point of 1945 C. My curiousity now is becaiuse Manganese dioxide has a melting point of just 500 C, how much temperature will  it be able to  reduce aluminum oxide melting point to when mixed  because it has a lower melting point than manganese oxide?

Refer to the question above. When those chemicals are mixed together and heated in a furnce lets say at 1600C what happens as a result?

And what happens also when  you add silica on the mix and heat at that temperature?

If for example, a homemade charcoal foundry like the attached photo, if another hairdryer is connected and turned on on the other side so is 2 hairdryers are blowing on the charcoal, what do you think the maximum ot top temperateure willl be reached inside? By guessing. 1300 C? 1600 c?

If I use a charcoal furnace and after I use it to melt something but I want to annael it for couple days inside the charcoal furnace, what insulation material is best at containing the heat for a long period of time without loosing heat?

Or if I ask it another way what charcoal foundry insulation material is best for preserving the heat inside the foundry for a long time?

By the way, How much maximum temperature an ordinary homemade charcoal foundry can get? with a single hairdryer. Does anybody ever measured the temperature when charcoal heat is at maximum temperature?

I was reading about synthetic diamonds in wikipedia and in the history section I came up to this paragraph:

After the 1797 discovery that diamond was pure carbon,[2][3] many attempts were made to convert various cheap forms of carbon into diamond.[4][a] The earliest successes were reported by James Ballantyne Hannay in 1879[9] and by Ferdinand Frédéric Henri Moissan in 1893. Their method involved heating charcoal at up to 3,500 °C (6,330 °F) with iron inside a carbon crucible in a furnace.

There it is mentioned that they heated charcoal to temperature of 3500 C so my questiion is how possible is it to produce that kind of heat with charcoal?

Yes, lead oxide is definitely poisonous (and volatile!) I would highly recommend against using it.

Perhaps you could try a different approach to making synthetic corundums—growing crystals out of solution instead of from a flux or melt.

At room temperature, aluminum oxide has very high solubility in highly alkaline aqueous solution (forming aluminate ions), and can be precipitated out again with a decrease in the pH. Slowly changing the temperature and/or pH of the solution may allow growth of aluminum oxide crystals.

Hydrothermal synthesis of sapphires is a known alternative to synthesis from molten aluminum compounds.

Can you explain a bit how can I do this growing aluminum oxide crystals in a home setting if I have 500 C furnace like Bored chemist says. And what aquous solution dissolves aluminum oxide?

If the aluminum oxide is dissolved in aquous solution how do yo crystallize the crystals?

Thanks guys. I asked all this because I saw a guy wrote somewhere that if you mix iron and carbon, melt it and annael for a period of time you get diamond powder. Thats what I am trying to experiment. Anybody has tried this?
