Physics, Astronomy & Cosmology / BLC 1 Signal from Proxima Centauri?
« on: 15/05/2023 12:40:01 »
What do scientist here think of BLC 1, radio signal from a moving object in Proxima Centauri?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BLC1

Maybe a USAF secret probe or someone forgot to turn off his phone?

Geology, Palaeontology & Archaeology / No Evidence of the Exodus?
« on: 15/05/2023 12:29:09 »
I have heard several times that there is no evidence for the Exodus, not in archaeology. But I long ago was watching TV and in the documentary some Arabic archaeologists were digging up a waste pit, in it they reported finding deep down, pork bones and above only sheep bones. They probably got rid of the evidence.

And Simcha Jacobovici discovered a mountain with white minerals coating a surface indicating a rich mineral water had flowed out from it. But archaeologists from the west are not legally permitted there. The local government since then indicated they wanted to demolish the region for a building project.

I don't think it is really fair to say archaeology has had a proper scientific run in Arabia.

Just Chat! / Return of Baal/Marduk. The Requirement to Kill Your Child, Teach your Children..
« on: 29/04/2023 10:15:45 »
Things are progressing like a cancer in government, like Nazi Germany. In California, abortion can be after birth by 48 hours and now there is talk of weeks after. They are sourced for spare organs like spare parts. It is a tragedy. I recall at age 11 attending the funeral of a still born cousin. And how grieved a friend was when he also lost a daughter. But some people abort for a career choice. Where is the love in that? For some money and pleasure are what guides them. Like with Maslow's chart of motivations, physiological needs at the bottom. It can imply greed.

Without personification Baal and Marduk are back. Sacrifice for fertility of the fields... but in another form.

Now it is possible a soldier with conscience and faith can be sent to fight for democracy, and his wife and children are hindered from going to church, at school taught queer theory, secular humanism, and abortion as a right, and the wife may be under pressure to kill her baby. He is not given a birth certificate. He returns home to tragedy. What did he fight for?

This is cancerous progress.

Roe Vs Wade gave the care free a toe hold, now they have a foot hold. Difficult to remove.

Christian schools may lose the expression of the right to choose their staff according to the Christian ethos. One size philosophy fits all. Communistic. Following China not so much old America as under Reagan. No business competition and free thought. I want "live the difference." To express conscience and for it to take root.

Just Chat! / What is your theodicy?
« on: 05/02/2023 17:54:10 »
I have been reading various theodicies  from ChatGPT. Including Catholic, Lutheran, Atheist, Anti-theist, Buddhist....

I wanted to ask what members here have to say in their theodicies?

Plant Sciences, Zoology & Evolution / Snakes vision of heat to them is in shades of blue and yellow?
« on: 09/01/2023 16:48:09 »
I have heard that animals like dogs and cats see light in shades of blue and yellow. I had as a boy thought they saw in black and white. I have heard snakes see infra red light, but in shades of blue and yellow or yellow and red...? What goes on in their retinas and brains?

Just Chat! / Logical Positivism, Scientism, and New Philosophies?
« on: 02/01/2023 13:33:20 »
I looked into logical positivism and scientism which is similar. The earlier philosophy was developed in Germany and other parts of Europe and had a following in England. This was a hundred tears ago. Holding that idea that everything had a rational explanation. In 1967 it was determined to be a faulty and so an obsolete philosophy. According to Wikipedia.

Derek Prince was a professor of logic at Cambridge, he became more like a mystic after an encounter with God.

What replaces it for Naked Scientist forum members? I have heard some of Biola University's Professor Habermas. And thinking in the here and now with Eckhart Tolle.

I think there is value in sharing the subjective as well as the objective reality.

Physics, Astronomy & Cosmology / Orbiting or descending into the black hole at the centre of the Milky Way?
« on: 27/11/2022 11:30:48 »
Looking at the Milky Way, it looks like the stars are not orbiting but swirling down into the black hole at the centre of the Milky Way. It seems to me that our solar system is orbiting down closer and closer to the centre of the galaxy rather than remaining at the same distance. It takes millions of years for one solar orbit.

Is this true that the stars are falling, swirling down into the increasingly strong gravity of the black hole in the centre? As it absorbs more stars?

Could this mean the solar year is getting shorter?

Plant Sciences, Zoology & Evolution / Survival of the Passionate?
« on: 24/11/2022 11:05:21 »
We all would know the concept of, survival of the fittest. Many fit people today have one or no children per couple. They love pleasures, have ambitions, and take the contraceptive pill... So this may mean over generations in the community of people who use the pill, that the survivors will be those who are passionate about having 2 to 5... children.

Could there be a survival of the passionate men and women who want five children at the dinner table? A change in the proportions of genes in favour of innately passionate parents?

Having this zest for life, does not mean they are what Darwin would describe as the fittest, the alternative is the passionate not the same as the fittest, not necessarily.

Physiology & Medicine / Cat with electronic plug installed in forehead?
« on: 27/10/2022 10:38:06 »

What is happening with this cat and a device implanted in it's head? The plug looks like a monitor plug. The image is from PETA animal rights group. Just wonder what the experiment is for and if it is worthwhile?

Chemistry / What happened to the 30% Oxygen content atmosphere?
« on: 01/09/2022 08:29:00 »
I was watching a documentary on the emergence of insects from the sea, and times of the dinosaurs, when the atmosphere held a volume of 30% Oxygen. Why has it reduced to 20%, where did it all go?

Geology, Palaeontology & Archaeology / Global Flood Stories?
« on: 31/08/2022 14:28:43 »
There are stories among the ancients of floods. Looking at wildlife in Australia and Europe compared, for many thousands of years, they don't have a common origin. There is the account of polar ice cap melting thousands of years ago, which could have been rapid, and led to flooding. But the idea the mountain tops were covered as in Genesis is seems unlikely. A mixture of rain and ice melts may have made local floods. Woolly Mammoths are still found in polar ice. There must have been a big melt before the freezing encroached back on them?

Physiology & Medicine / What Goes Wrong with our Telomere and Aging in Mars Gravity and why?
« on: 18/08/2022 16:45:55 »
What in low gravity such as on Mars, goes wrong with our Telomere and the rate at which one ages? And why so?

Plant Sciences, Zoology & Evolution / CO2 Atmosphere Era Land Plants and Animals?
« on: 18/08/2022 16:38:37 »
What kind of plants and especially animals, lived on the surface of the Earth during the times before an Oxygen atmosphere?

14
Plant Sciences, Zoology & Evolution / Evolutionary DNA Leaps in Chromosome counts?
« on: 05/08/2022 23:29:29 »
I just listened to Richard Dawkins say that there was no first man, like Adam. That evolution is gradual, offspring the same as the parents. But that makes me think of DNA counts, such as two chromosomes in fish, maybe four in reptiles... then 46 in our ancestors, who may have cross bred with red headed Neanderthals. And our common ancestors with Gorillas, and the leap from 46 or 44 Chromosomes to a working group of 48 chromosomes in the new species to be Gorillas. Are these offspring immediately different from their parents? How does it happen and how does it work?

Physics, Astronomy & Cosmology / The early Sun at the time just after Theia's impact? What colour was it?
« on: 06/06/2022 14:15:19 »
If we to see the Sun in the sky just after the impact of Theia with the Earth, when the moon was still hot and gaseous, would it have been the same bright yellow, or a dimmer orange or even red?

16
Physics, Astronomy & Cosmology / Formation of our solar system, the Nova, Nebula, dust and disc formation?
« on: 06/06/2022 14:10:49 »
Gold in our solar system, in the earth's crust formed in a nova or super nova, also everything heavier than iron, true? Was this a nova or super nova event? Was this about five billion years ago? What and where is the remnant of this star and explosion? Was there a resulting nebula? If so, what happened to it? Why wasn't there a resulting dwarf star or neutron star?

Did our solar system form from a nebula or where did the mass come from, for the sun and planets?

It formed a disc in line with the Milky Way's black hole?

Do nebulas have a life span?

New Theories / Traveling back in time, alternate to time paradox theory.
« on: 21/12/2021 07:32:58 »
I recall numerous stories of traveling back in time, and Hawking's idea of a time paradox, with a great volume of light... But I speculate that a time paradox would not happen, and that both the past and present and solid unchangeable realities. If an American soldier went back in time, and sought to marry young princess Elizabeth, Prince Charles could not cease to exist, or morph into a man of another race... First off I think that history has infinite inertia, the atmosphere would crush the time traveler, and the people could not see him, and would knock him down if the atmosphere did not crush him.

But supposing he could interact with people and change the physical and social world, there would form two realities, distinct from each other, two separate worlds, possibly two planets... and the possibility of a collision or the two existing inside each other, dense and hot. To make another world would use up vast amounts of energy. It can't happen.

Just Chat! / New gas power station in NSW could also run on Hydrogen?
« on: 21/05/2021 08:57:47 »
The NSW state government plans to build a new power station in case the green powers sources temporarily under supply. People complain that natural gas is a fossil fuel. But could a station that burns gas also be designed to burn Hydrogen?

Just Chat! / How accurate are these abortion statistics?
« on: 19/04/2021 05:33:52 »
How accurate are the abortion statistics in this website?: http://www.numberofabortions.com/

These are not spontaneous abortions.

« on: 08/04/2021 16:11:59 »
How can one edit the primary email in facebook, in firefox? I tried but the edit option only allows for adding another email. My primary email may have been hacked.

I  would like to know how to change it.
