As some of you may know I am the founder of a website called New England Physics (NEP) and is located at:

Note: I want to make sure that it's well known that thread is not an advertisement of any kind, especially since NEP is a non-profit organization. While there is a physics discussion forum under the NEP website, membership is by invitation only so we're not in competition for members.

What I'd like to ask is for everyone's opinion on how to structure and present the material. As I'm sure most of you know already the field of physics has different levels of difficultly. I want to know what you think regarding presenting this material, i.e. all branches of physics. Should I have a general physics section for those who have no knowledge of physics whatsoever or do I create a section for each branch with varying level of difficulty, etc?

I have to apologize for being sloppy here. It's 2:18 am and I'm tired as heck. I'll sleep on this and say it better tomorrow. Thanks.

Pete - we've had a few threads from you like this, basically saying the same thing. Can you try to confine the conversation to a single thread and also, since this isn't strictly a science question thread, can you keep these sorts of posts to the "Just Chat" section please. I'll move it later.

I disagree Chris , I think there is a science in the way we perform teaching and think this discussion could be a valuable lesson to all in understanding the different of teaching styles and learning styles .  Honey and Mumford recognises individuals and each person with their own unique learning style, likewise teachers should account for this, teaching on forums should also account for that people are at different levels of learning like Pete recognises now.
I have been to Pete's forum on an invite, the criteria was too strict for my liking and I was in affect kicked from forum,  I was looking to gain some basic knowledge and pass a test or two maybe, Pete threw me in at the deep end which was probably college or even University level, I would of been happy to start off at junior school level, I have no qualifications and do not even know for sure that what I know is even correct with being self taught.
Pete is asking for opinions of how to go about teaching and accounting for all these types of learning styles and levels people are already at, I think the randomness of the problem gives premise for a scientific answer.



Pete- I think you need Beginner, amateur and advanced section to your teaching,  if a person does not pass beginner,  there is no point moving on until they do.


p.s I could teach science to anybody with the aid of the internet.

To you they're the same thing. To me its nothing like I've ever posted because I've never raised the subject before. And this is a physics question to me because I'm asking what's the best way to teach physics at a website when you don't know who's reading it.

However, if this is the way you're going to treat it then please delete it rather then move it because your claims have given me a sour stomach. I think I need to leave the forum for a while.
