Title: What kind of rock is this?
Post by: stevephx on 25/08/2010 00:46:06
Hey,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but this seems like my best bet.

I found a rock when I was younger in the beach sand in California. I thought it looked cool, it has a black texture and is smooth. Now im wondering it is. If this is the wrong place to ask, sorry.

Here is some information about it

79 Grams Weight
6 1/2 in. Height in max spot
4 in Width in max spot

I do not have a big magnet, but I tried testing it with a smaller magnet and I can feel a slight pull when sliding it over the rock.

Overall it's not even half the size of your hand.

Does anybody have a clue what it is?

The pictures are pretty blurry, but it appears to be obsidian.
