Title: Silliest scientific theory
Post by: Hadrian on 04/07/2006 23:26:44
What is the silliest scientific theory you ever heard?

What you do speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say.

It depends how scientific you want to get.
What about the hollow earth theory? That's pretty silly.

Oh my.....next you'll expect us to believe that Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy don't exist !!...ha ha ha !!..now that would be ridiculous !!

Men are the same as women, just inside out !

ohhhh noooo nooo nooooo intelligent design is not the most silly theory not by a long way, no by the same team that brought you intelligent design may I present intelligent physics this is the theory brought to you by the same christian "scientists" that brought you intelligent design that states- there is no force of gravity as it can not be explained then surely the logical reason that we stay on earth and dont fly off is NOT gravity but rather the actions of god pushing us back down.
I think we have a winner!

J.B.S Haldane on the perforated eardrums which were a consequence of his pressure experiments "the drum generally heals up; and if a hole remains in it, although one is somewhat deaf, one can blow tobacco smoke out of  the ear in question, which is a social accomplishment".

As the debate over the teaching of evolution in public schools continues, a new controversy over the science curriculum arose Monday in this embattled Midwestern state. Scientists from the Evangelical Center For Faith-Based Reasoning are now asserting that the long-held "theory of gravity" is flawed, and they have responded to it with a new theory of Intelligent Falling.
"Things fall not because they are acted upon by some gravitational force, but because a higher intelligence, 'God' if you will, is pushing them down," said Gabriel Burdett, who holds degrees in education, applied Scripture, and physics from Oral Roberts University.

Intelligent Design is awful(The Flying Spaghetti Monster is much more plausible), but in the realm of real scientists I know two that are rather silly.

String Theory can not be tested experimentally so I think that it shouldn't be put in the realms of science, yet.

And Dark Matter, here I sit on the fence. Many cosmologists believe it, but from my laymans understanding of it still has me riddled. How did we come up with the idea for matter that we can't see or detect. The math has shown that we are missing something. Maybe our instruments aren't precise enough, maybe we have a different aspect of cosmology wrong. We are rather limited in our perspective in space(stuck on earth) and time(billions of years is a rather long time).
