Surprising as it sounds, the majority of antibiotic drugs actually come from microbes themselves, particularly Streptomyces bacteria which naturally live in the soil.  Strathclyde University’s Paul Hoskisson studies these bugs to understand their metabolism, how they grow, and looks for new antimicrobial agents...
