Title: Why do we have a nightmare?
Post by: sgroclkc on 14/12/2006 02:30:23
Nightmare chief has dreamed of falling or of being attacked two dreams,Humans have long think this two dreams of nightmare was could not explains
.In truth,This two chief dreams of nightmare is caused by the illusion of sensation of tachycardia and bradycardia or the palpitation quick and is slow. When we were tachycardia wake ,the tachycardia would caused illusion of it seems to being attacked. When we were tachycardia asleep, the tachycardia would caused nightmare of illusion nightmare of being attacked. When we were bradycardia wake, the bradycardia would caused illusion of it seems to heart falling. When we were bradycardia asleep, the bradycardia would caused nightmare of illusion of person falling.
Sleep paralysis is caused by transient reductions in brain blood flow or oxygen,It causes a feeling of dizziness and sometimes even altered awareness or loss of consciousness. The patient may also complain of chest pain, dyspnoea, blurred vision, paraesthesias, muscle cramps and fatigue, This feeling is accompanied by such physical symptoms as palpitations, dyspnoea, sweating, trembling and abdominal discomfort. However, symptoms can vary from person to person. In our sleep or dream,Sometimes even altered awareness or loss of consciousness is producing completely paralyzed, can't more, can't speak, breathing is controlled and troubled. The frightful dizziness is producing the frightful devil.Palpitations of tachycardia is producing being attacked of frightful devil. When we deep sleep,Transient reductions in brain blood flow or oxygen is producing the colorful dream. When we shallow sleep or awake,Transient reductions in brain blood flow or oxygen give we a fright. When we awake,we stand up too fast from a sitting that we are likely to suffer from frightful transient reductions in brain blood flow
Most important, the experiment confirmed the idea. For example, when the everyone had sleep paralysis ,because transient reductions in brain blood flow is caused by The pillow too high. This explains people who not have a feeling of palpitations and suffered fright had sleep paralysis but people who not have a feeling of palpitations and suffered fright did not have nightmare of only feeling of palpitations.
dyspnea, chest pain,Palpitations and transient reductions in brain blood flow all are symptom of cardiovascular disease aspect. As psychologist or dream researchers was ignorant at cardiovascular disease, they cannot explain symptom of palpitations and transient reductions in brain blood flow the person's sleeping. So they offered all kinds of absurd idea of nightmare.Palpitations and transient reductions in brain blood flow all are symptom of cardiovascular disease aspect. As psychologist or dream researchers was ignorant at cardiovascular disease, they cannot explain symptom of palpitations and transient reductions in brain blood flow the person's sleeping. So they offered all kinds of absurd idea of nightmare.

Title: Why do people have nightmares

For a long time, due to the ignorance of physiological knowledge of ischemic heart, slow beat, fast beat and so on, psychological illusion in people’s sleep generated by such physical symptoms i.e. the nightmare really has puzzled the psychologists, therefore they put forward a wide range of wrong even absurd views on the nightmares, which both have no scientific basis, and could not be confirmed, even more were not self-consistent.

A person with a heart disorder ever had a nightmare of falling from high, and he conceived it was a fierce boding, so he had no peace of mind day and night, unexpectedly, at last he jumped from a 11-Story building to his death. A fugitive murderer, fled in two years, he surrendered to the police because of the psychological stress due to the unbearable illusion of as if being hunted all day long, and had nightmare all the night that the slain captured the fetch. In fact, these two nightmares are caused by premature beat or slow beat or fast beat, and they are “One dreams at qnight what one thinks in the day”

The reasons for the dreams are very simple, viz. they are the reactions of the objective things in the minds. As Germany's well-known psychologist William Wundt’s view of “the most common causes of the dream are indigestion, heart pulsation (palpitation or flustered), difficulty in breathing, as well as such symptoms." Psychologist A Moree after a rigorous study also pointed out that: "The dream is the organism having a misunderstanding of the emotional perception, for example, the noisy at night when sleep will cause a dream of sound of thunder. For instance, students dreaming the examination before the pre-examination, is caused by the things about examination, and dreams about urgency of urine are caused by the sense of urgency of urine after sleep. By the same token, the nightmare is caused by the sense of hear throb such as fast beat, slow beat. For instant, if a certain heartbeat occurs in frequency in the night, it will cause phenomena of insomnia with iterative dreamlands. The heart throb in nightmare will be stronger than daytime, which is the same as the phenomena that early in the disease, some people can not feel the slight discomfort during daytime, but they can feel it in the dream, because in sleep, the incitements that the brain receiving from the outside world are largely reduced, so the incitements from inner become comparatively stronger.

When palpitation or flustered occurs, people will have two main feelings: one is tachycardia cause a feeling of seeming to be pursuing (TCM: tachycardia, watchful as if he was being pursuing); the other is bradycardia or premature beat cause the feeling of heart suspension or heart sinking. Therefore, people in sleep accordingly will have the two nightmares of being pursued (occasionally hunting other people) and hanging in the air, and falling down. If transient cerebral ischemia occuring during the day may result in some very terrible dizziness, palpitations, feelings of chest pressure, dim vision, tinnitus and a variety of neurological symptoms. As a result, all the people who are prone to cerebral ischemia frail corporeity, excessive fear, taking the quinidine which may lead to low blood pressure, as well as a excessive high pillow ors, error in sleeping style which may lead to the aggrieved neck, pressed blood stream, when they sleep in deep night, they will have the extraordinary corresponding horrible dreams, in the dreams, they do some kind of terrible Belial pressuring them or being hunted down, but they can not cry out or escape, which are called nightmare in iatrology. Vague terrors in light sleep, which is known as sleep paralysis. Sometimes people was just woken up with the cerebral ischemia, be cause the vision continuing for a few minutes and dyskinesia have not yet concluded, which will cause psychological illusion that people struggle to wake up but fail to do it. For instance, a place in country, there is a "haunted" bed which makes people have nightmares every night, and it is this fact that the pillow in the bed is too high. Psychological distress during the day will cause being frightened due to a very small voice. In the cause of insomnia which due to the mental stress, and changing the sleep style constantly, people sometimes suddenly as if heard a loud noisy them have the nightmare. It is obvious that the loud noisy is generated by the friction in the process of changing the sleep style. In normal times, such a "bang" which has turned a deaf ear to the people, sometimes will become very terrible when mental stress. Another example, sleeping pills are the treatment of nightmare of neurasthenia, due to the nightmare of such patients is caused by tachycardia, and sleeping pills can lead to slower heartbeat, moreover slower heartbeat sometimes leads to cerebral ischemia for people of low blood pressure. Therefore, treating a nightmare with sleeping pills at times is not only invalid, but also it will instead increase the patient's state of the disease.

In short, all of the things are experienced in the dreams are the experienced things which are in people’s minds during the day. No one will feel afeared and mysterious because he suddenly thinks of a person who had been dead for many years during the day, similarly, no one will feel mysterious and specially afeared because of low beat or fast beat, likewise there is no need to feel mysterious and specially afeared because of the sudden nightmare due to low beat or fast beat.

As Germany’s well-known psychologist William Wundt’s view of “ the most common causes of the dream are indigestion, heart pulsation(palpitations or flustered),difficulity in breathing, as well as such symptoms.” For instance, students dreaming the examination before the pre-examination, is caused by the things about examination. The sense of urgent urination would give rise to the dream of looking for the toilet. In a cold night, thin quilt would cause one to dream the clothes are socked by water and thus make him/her feel cold. When palpitations occurs, people will have two most common feelings: one is tachycardia cause a feeling of seeming to be chasing ; the other is bradycardia or premature beat cause the feeling of heart suspension or heart sinking. Therefore, people in sleep accordingly will have the two most common nightmares : one is dream of being chased (occasionally hunting other people) ; the other is dream of flying in the air or dream of falling down. Persons who palpitation is easy to occur are easy to have nightmare, drugs can cause nightmare because drugs can cause palpitation. Females are easier to have nightmare than males, because palpitation is easier occur to females than to males. Women have a huge amount of nightmares during pregnancy because women experience more palpitations in pregnancy. Physical factors that contribute to bad dreams include fever as also sleep because fever causes an increase in the heart rate. If transient cerebral ischemia or fainting occuring during the day may result in some very terrible dizziness, palpitations, feelings of chest pressure, dim vision, tinnitus and a variety of neurological symptoms. As a result, all the people who are prone to cerebral ischemia or fainting frail corporeity, excessive fear, taking the quinidine which may lead to low blood pressure, as well as a excessive high pillow ors, error in sleeping style which may lead to the aggrieved neck, pressed blood stream. when they sleep in deep night, they will have the extraordinary corresponding horrible dreams, in the dreams, they do some kind of terrible Belial pressuring them or being hunted down, but they can not cry out or escape, which is known as sleep paralysis. .For a long time, due to the ignorance of physiological knowledge of syncope , ischemie cerebrale , slow beat, fast beat and so on, psychological illusion in people’s sleep generated by such physical symptoms i.e. the nightmare really has puzzled the psychologists, therefore they put forward a wide range of wrong even absurd views onthe nightmares, which both have no scientific basis, and could not be confirmed, even more were not self-consistent. For example, a medical expert Debacke drew the correct conclusion that the anxiety-dream resulted from ischemie cerebrale according to the physiological symptoms of the anxiety-dream of a boy of thirteen. Freud called such view was a ” medical mythology” in the book of Dream Psychology. Most important, the experiment confirmed the idea. For example, a place in country , there is a “haunted” bed which makes people have sleep paralysis or syncope every night, and it is this fact that the pillow in the bed is too high will reduce cerebral blood flow. Another example, sleeping pills are the treatment of nightmare of being chased of neurasthenia, due to the nightmare of being chased of such patients is caused by tachycardia, and sleeping pills can lead to slower heartbeat, moreover slower heartbeat sometimes leads to sleep paralysis or fainting for people of low blood pressure. Therefore, treating a nightmare with sleeping pills at times is not only invalid, but also it will instead increase the patient’s state of the disease.
There are two main types of scary phenomenons in sleep(nightmare and sleep paralysis) that are caused by two main scary symptoms of cardiovascular disease {palpitation and fainting (syncope)}.

Nightmares and dreams are connected to disruption in the natural neural potential flow, within the brain. There are caused by repression of natural instinct, often by the ego, through willpower and choice.

Humans have two centers of consciousness, which are the inner self and the ego. The inner self is much older and has a connection to our human DNA. The inner self is the center of natural human instinct, which defines humans as a species. The ego is much newer, in terms of evolution, and formed around the start of civilization. The ego can offer a secondary point of view; civilized, that can complement the inner self or act against it, based on choice and will power. The latter causes dams where nightmares can become conscious due to the need for the inner self  to compensate to for the repression of the natural flow.

As an analogy, the inner self, by being the center of natural instinct, will assess a reality situation with natural instinct and act in a way to lower the instinctive potential. It is water flowing down a river, as the induced neural potential, goes from higher back to lower potential. The animal reacts and acts, and then rests; induced potential and then back to lower potential.

The ego can set up unnatural dams causing the potential to linger and even pool. The inner self will try to lower the potential, but now has to do so with unnatural dams. How do you get the river of neural potential to flow naturally, again, with manmade dams? One way is to crack a hole in the dam; challenge the mental obstruction, and let the pool drain down natural channels. Depending on the level of repression; amount of potential, breaking the dam can result in a trickle; nice dream, or a raging white water night mare. If the ego is not able to translate the intent, it may try to rebuild the dam. This will cause a repeating night mare.

As a practical example, young soldiers are trained and conditioned to shoot and kill the enemy. This requires the ego use will and choice to reinforce this order from the cultural superego; forced military policies. The solider may follow orders and have to kill, but the end this may not agree with his inner self or the ego belief system, and cause a repression; guilt. This guilt may be reinforced by the ego, with willpower, since the ego may not be able to forgive, itself. The inner self is trying remove the dam, but the ego keeps rebuilding the dam  of guilt. This can causes the pool to expand until one day, the dam breaks and there is raging white water. This can be overwhelming. Drugs and alcohol help to lower conscious awareness but have side affects.

This brain firmware dynamics is key to exploring the unconscious mind, inner self, and the personality firmware, that are behind the brain's natural operating system. In this type of research, the ego needs to consciously place obstacles and dams, within various areas of the neural flow; firmware. This will induce an inner self correction and the symbolism that is generates. This allows one to map the main inner self river and its tributaries. This approach requires one become both the scientist and the experiment since this mapping is less about brain hardware and more about brain firmware and software. This type of output needs to be viewed from the inside, as affects such as dreams, visions and active imagination.

Software activity and symbolic detail does not show up on any external brain scan that science has developed, but rather has to be witnessed by the ego from inside. There are no machines that can record and tell you what you are dreaming, other that you are having a dream, the heart is beating faster snd muscle are very tense.  Dream details need the ego to be a direct witness.

In psychology therapy, the ego has to relate the dream to the therapists since there are no tools to do this from the outside. It does take courage to explore and map the unconscious, since you will be a stranger, in a strange land, where you may not know all the customs, and may unknowing cross boundaries that bite back.

The mythology of ancient times is a combination of dream symbolism and nightmares that reflect the repressions and dams of the culture due to the cultural superego. Mythology may have been originally generated by someone who had a correcting dream and nightmare, and took this to heart and helped lower their own inner self potential. This is then given to the collective, as a tool to help balance off the unnatural will of the ego, induced by the same superego. Religion was the caretaker of the psyche at levels much deeper that psychology. Religion is not about the ego, but the inner self  Psychology is more about fixing the ego.

Morality is about what is consider common to all; inner self. While relative morality is about choice and willpower; ego . Relative morality tends to add dams since most choices by the ego do not advance the inner self, but will induce the ego dynamics associated with obsession; inner self correction and ego reinforcement.

Nightmares and dreams are connected to disruption in the natural neural potential flow, within the brain. There are caused by repression of natural instinct, often by the ego, through willpower and choice.
Given that babies dream, it is clear that you have made up that nonsense.

What do babies dream about? This question cannot be answered from the outside. We have no tools that can broadcast dreams to the outsider; scientist. This poses a problem for the philosophy of science, which says one can only depends on external data. At the same time, a baby does not have the language skills, yet, to explain what it saw. All we have are external brain scans which show symptoms of what appears to be dreaming. Beyond that, science is in the dark based on its own extroversion limited philosophy. If we turn inward, this get data but dreams may not be repeatable. This will the be called subjective and/or inclusive, even if objective.

My guess is baby dreaming is induced by the adults, since natural and instinctive child raising is not fully defined, so this is often supplemented with the latest adult fads in free market child raising; selling goods and services. This can induce a virtual ego and potential, in the baby, until the child's ego develops. Adults get addicted to the goo goo, smile, repeat.

For example, natural child raising did not use bottles, and babies were not placed in their own rooms. Mother had to carry the baby, with them, as the migratory groups wandered from place to place looking for food and safety. This was the natural way tens of thousands of years before humans developed civilization. In assume you believe in evolution . The DNA is very conservative and old and the 5% time frame of civilization will not dominate the earlier DNA, but is more likely to run contrary to this most of the time.

In terms of the potential flow of the brain, neurons expend the lion's share of their metabolic energy pumping and exchanging cations; sodium and potassium cations, at the neuron membrane. This is estimated to take about 90% of the neuron's metabolic energy. This is the most important task of the neuron, based on its energy usage. This sets the stage for everything else connected to consciousness.

The resultant high is energy neuron state is paradoxically called "rest neurons" even though these are at highest free energy potential, due to the sizable free energy input and the entropic potential that is created by segregating potassium and sodium ions on opposite sides of membrane. Left to the their own devices, these two ions would prefer increase entropy and blend. The neuron uses energy to lower their entropy, so the second law is amplified; entropic potential, at the neuron membrane.

This blending of ions and the resultant increase in entropy, will occur during firing. The neuron quickly reverses this situation and restores the neuron potential, back to the top of the free energy hill.  The neuron will quickly respond and push the neuron back to the top of the energy hill. If the neuron pushes itself too far, the neuron can go up and over the hill; spontaneous firing such as background brain waves.

The free energy potential, from the firing of a neuron, will need to flow toward lower potential. Since the rest state of the neuron; top of the energy hill, defines lowest entropy, the potential flow due to firing, among other things, will have the affect of increasing entropy elsewhere; induces branching and synapses to help further lower potential; adds complexity. Sensory nerves fire neurons and the energy flow add complexity to cerebral branching; adds memories.

In terms of the bulk energy flow, from all the firing neurons of the cerebral matter, all these currents will ultimately flow to the thalamus region of the brain. This is located in the center of the brain. The thalamus has two lobes and is surrounded by the ventricles; pools of cerebral spinal fluid.

The thalamus is the most wired part of the brain and is considered, by science to be the central switching station of the brain. This is expected, since the collective entropy potential of all neuron firing, flowing to the thalamus, will make this the most complex part of the brain; place of highest entropy. I would guess that the thalamus is the matrix of the inner self; central hub of the brain that is very ancient in terms of evolution.

The ego by controlling which memory fires, through sensory focus, or via choice of memory recall, has an impact on the free energy flux to the thalamus; will power and choice. The thalamus, through thalamus-cerebral-thalamus wiring lops can send signals back to the cerebral, as well as signals forward down the spine. This can induce complexity, via the entropic potential, back to the cerebral matter. Dreams are part of this feedback loop, in an attempt to optimize the overall energy flow.

In terms of mapping the operating system, the ego needs to use will power to consciously place obstacles in the natural energy flux, via the cerebral memory. This is done through the manipulation of memory and the knowledge of collective human symbols. You then make note of the feedback; new symbolism that become conscious. It is easy to do in theory, but poses dangers.

The ventricles, which are full of cerebral spinal fluid, and which surround the thalamus and which also flows down the spin, appear to be part of the fluidity that we associate with consciousness. An automaton has hard wiring for its dynamics. A secondary fluid memory overlay, would be far more likely to deviate from the hardwired script of the automaton. Water can form hydrogen bonds, interact with ionic potential and even express changes in entropy and free energy via shifts in hydrogen bonding. Water can make a good projector screen for the brain's free energy potentials. This screen is modified with soluble neurotransmitters.

From my experience, the thalamus appears to be able to induce the ventricle water, like a movie projector, with the entropy increase output induction very fluid and not hardwired. This could explain why dreams are not always easy to remember, unless the ego is conscious in the dream and helps reinforce the fluid memory, via longer term cerebral storage. One's has to review the dream, until it wired into solid memory. The baby can dream but few dreams are remembered until later in life when language and will power appear.

What do babies dream about?
We don't know.
As you say
a baby does not have the language skills, yet, to explain what it saw.
And, by the same token, it lacks the skills to understand any attempt to engage in
repression of natural instinct, often by the ego, through willpower and choice.

So that particular serving of word salad can't be the reason they dream.

Your subsequent post did not change that.
So we still know that your idea is wrong.

Water and the brain has the means to do this.  Experiments can confirm some of the capacity of water that would be needed. I found one such study in two minutes. There is linked below to the paper. The abstract is presented below.

Abstract
Energy dissipation in water is very fast and more efficient than in many other liquids. This behavior is commonly attributed to the intermolecular interactions associated with hydrogen bonding. Here, we investigate the dynamic energy flow in the hydrogen bond network of liquid water by a pump-probe experiment. We resonantly excite intermolecular degrees of freedom with ultrashort single-cycle terahertz pulses and monitor its Raman response. By using ultrathin sample cell windows, a background-free bipolar signal whose tail relaxes monoexponentially is obtained. The relaxation is attributed to the molecular translational motions, using complementary experiments, force field, and ab initio molecular dynamics simulations. They reveal an initial coupling of the terahertz electric field to the molecular rotational degrees of freedom whose energy is rapidly transferred, within the excitation pulse duration, to the restricted translational motion of neighboring molecules. This rapid energy transfer may be rationalized by the strong anharmonicity of the intermolecular interactions.

In the case of cerebral spinal fluid; CSF, this is not pure water, but will have some minor dissolved components, such as neurotransmitters an ions to modify the energy decay. Different limbic chemicals in the CSF. can have an impact of what we feel about what we think.

The hydrogen bond is unique in that shows both polar and covalent bonding character. These are two connected states of hydrogen bonding, which are relatively close in energy, but separated by a slight energy hill. These two related hydrogen bonding states can, theoretically, act as binary switches, for the transfer of information. Information can move without having to break any hydrogen bonds. The molecular organic structures do not have to be modified during water data transmission. This is what one will need.

The polar state of the hydrogen bonding switch is more compact; less volume, and defines higher entropy and higher enthalpy. The covalent setting is more expanded; more volume, and has lower entropy and lower enthalpy. Not only can information be transferred, but the organic chemicals, of life, surrounded by the water can be muscled by the water through expansion and contraction pressures generated by the switches. The change in switch settings can also induce different states of free energy in the organics, via the information flow. This is how cells integrate and how they are they can be induced by information.

The study presented shows that water can also dissipate energy very efficiently Although information can be used to integrate the cell, each aspect of the cell can also remain relatively independent, as observed. Energy, given off by enzymes, does not get very far.

If the thalamus was to output some of the entropic potential, from cerebral firing, into the ventricle water, this would favor the polar side of the aqueous hydrogen bonding switches; induce the higher entropy polar switch setting. This extra slant to more polar switches, without organic support, is not normal for pure water. The water will constantly dissipated the extra free energy, by flipping the switches back, releasing free energy.  My guess is this secondary energy release goes everywhere where we find the CSF. The entire brain and spine will get secondary energy feedback since they all drink of the CSF. Consciousness is at the interface.

If we look at the cell membrane of a fully charged,  "rest neuron", the outside is mostly sodium ions and the inside is mostly potassium ions. Sodium ions are kosmotropic or they create more order in water that water creates by itself. Sodium lowers the local water's entropy; ordered, which puckers up the membrane organics. This lower entropy attracts food to increase entropy; source of complexity The higher induced free energy of the CSF; polar hydrogen bonding switch, due to thalamus output, will increase the entropy of the outer neuron membrane; via the CSF interface,  favoring the firing of memory.

The term projector into the ventricles may not be the correct term. The raw CSF signals in the ventricles are not be a cerebral based language movie, but more like free energy and information continuum, that uses a very fast thalamus language.

I am not claiming to be able to think in 4-D, like the thalamus; cause and effect is 2-D, but I usually have to wait for a translation into the slower 2-D human language in the cerebral matter. Although, I have sensed the faster raw CSF language; esoteric, via signals down the spine through the brain stem; arousal and gut feelings.

Yes, you found a paper.
As far as I can tell, it does not mention the thalamus, entropy, ventricule, movie, projector, hardwired or induction.
So you seem to have supported my contention that this
the thalamus appears to be able to induce the ventricle water, like a movie projector, with the entropy increase output induction very fluid and not hardwired.
is bollocks.

There is a corresponding difference that Popper sees in the form of the claims made by sciences and pseudo-sciences: Scientific claims are falsifiable -- that is, they are claims where you could set out what observable outcomes would be impossible if the claim were true -- while pseudo-scientific claims fit with any imaginable set of observable outcomes. What this means is that you could do a test that shows a scientific claim to be false, but no conceivable test could show a pseudo-scientific claim to be false. Sciences are testable, pseudo-sciences are not. For example, scientific theory believes that hepatitis B is caused by hepatitis B virus, and we can certainly detect hepatitis B virus in hepatitis B patients. Chinese scientists believe that nightmares are caused by palpitations, therefore, humans will inevitably experience symptoms of palpitations when having nightmares. If someone discovers that there are no symptoms of accelerated heartbeat (palpitations) when having a nightmare under attack, it can overturn the scientific view put forward by Chinese scientists that nightmares are caused by palpitations.

It is entirely falsifiable. Before you go to sleep, make sure there are no horses in the room and the door is locked. If you have a nightmare, PC's hypothesis is falsified. Therefore it is scientific.

Your theory are nonfalsifiable. It is a typical pseudoscience.

In 2009, my opinions above were strongly opposed by all on the website forum consistently when I first published them on the website of International Association for the Study of Dreams. After several years of impassioned debate people on the website forum, everyone consistently approved my opinion that these dreams are of no any special meaning and the causes of dreams are very simple. Since March 2009, nobody has published dream-related articles on the website forum. In the end of  year, the website forum had to be closed. After knowing the reasons of nightmares, sleep paralysis, flying dream and falling dream , nobody will believe the dream theories of Freud and other oneiromancy masters. The disclosure of scientific mysteries such as the nightmare , sleep paralysis, flying dream and falling dream is equivalent to sentencing the dream theories of Freud and other oneiromancy masters to death.
