Title: What books do you read?
Post by: atrox on 02/08/2008 00:27:08
Hi there!

Because Í´m a big fan of reading, I just wondered if you love to read to, and if so, what kind of books? Of course scientific books I think ;) ...but what else?
Besides my popular sciences books, I love all kinds of fantasy-books, especially horror and funny fantasy.

I read mainly science books, but I'm a big Sci-Fi fan too. Having said that, my favourite author is Terry Pratchett.

The Discworld novels for example... wow, didn´t know that he wasn´t famous around the world  [:o]
His Books are what I would consider "funny fantasy"...love him...the best Discworld-novels are the ones, where DEAD plays a bigger role... love "Mort" for example.
And I liked "Maurice the cat and his amazinge rodents", even if this is not a typical Discworld story.
I also love "the hitchhikers guide" by Douglas Adams.. so funny!

I tryed to read Harry Potter e few times...but I think I just dont like it.

Maurice the cat is a brilliant book.

My best books are "The wild swans","Carter beats the Devil" and "The life of pi."

The best science book is "The Dancing Wu Li masters." It helped me with my degree.

I like Sci-Fi but haven't found any books that have left me thinking "God that was good."
I like Douglas Adams but not Hitch hikers. He has done other stuff.

Some of the Torchwood books are OK but not all.

My best science book is "Song of the Dodo" by David Quammen...just love this book, its like my personal bible ;-)

"the wild swans" is this farythale, where a girl has to weave cloth out of nettles for their 11 (?) brothers, which are swans...right?
Liked that story too...

Anything by Iain (M) Banks or William Gibson.  There are lots of other authors I like too but those two really stand out for me.  Having not bothered to get a TV since I left home, reading was my chief form of recreation until home computers got powerful enough to be really usable.
