Technology / Ethanol fuel is the way to go
« on: 02/10/2021 10:33:32 »
Ethanol fuel is the way to go. If you have ever had the problem of water in your fuel then ethanol fuel is the cure as alcohol can mix with petrol and water. They say ethanol fuel is green well yes it does burn that little bit cleaner but is that why it is produced no. When the oil is collected from the deep drillings ocean and groundwater are introduced to the mix this water is a problem for the refinery that prepares the oil and converts it to the fuel that we use. The fuel that is supplemented with ethanol is the refined dregs that contain most of the water that is still in the fuel by adding ethanol the water can mix with the petrol and water so it can be evenly injected into our motors if we have water in the fuel without ethanol the water will collect at the bottom of the tank and be delivered to the engine in concentrated amounts leading to engine stall. If your car is up to the task of handling this fuel then use it no more water problems. Do you believe this is why ethanol fuel was created?

Just Chat! / Modern technology in the past
« on: 28/09/2021 14:01:27 »
A group of archaeologists have been digging for lost technology. They found electrical wire about four feet down then some phone wire six feet down they came to the conclusion that it was from the very late 18 hundreds so they kept digging for months and found nothing more. The head archaeologist has now confirmed that the ancient people obviously had wireless technology. PS no proof is all the proof you need.

Physics, Astronomy & Cosmology / If the earth stopped orbiting the sun?
« on: 25/09/2021 09:04:48 »
If the earth stopped orbiting the sun. This is a hypothetical question and may have an interesting answer. Can anyone do the math and reveal the answer as to the arrival velocity and time period for the earth as it makes contact with the sun. The earth has great mass so I'm sure it will be slow getting started on its journey to the sun. I haven't calculated the speed or time for this event as I have no understanding of the equations involved. I hope someone can give the answer?

Just Chat! / Why do we have world problems?
« on: 18/09/2021 19:19:52 »
Why do we have world problems is it due to smart people not being as smart as is needed or is it due to the population of less than smart people. Why haven't the powers to be had a Handel on world trouble is the world doomed to fail and are we prepared to let this hapen? So many great solutions get thrown around but every year there seems moor and moor difficulties. Is there a fast fix?

Just Chat! / Would the world be better if we were all vegetarians?
« on: 15/09/2021 16:38:43 »
Would the world be better if we were all vegetarians? I like eating meat but I think of all the benefits if we stopped. I will try to list some benefits. Less livestock, only milking cows, more grass for the native animals, less ground erosion, less bad gas, less hardship and suffering, the animals that we still would have such as horses milking cows the odd bull and any hobby farm animals can be used at the end of there lives for pet food as they are now anyway. Can you see any other benefits or maybe the downside what do you think?

New Theories / Is light real?
« on: 27/08/2021 15:02:32 »
I have been thinking about light and just what it is and I have come to the conclusion that it is not what we think. We have heard the expression if a tree falls in the forest and there is no one there to hear it does it make a sound. Well if photons land on an object and there is no one to see it does it produce light. Light is perceived by the light receptive rods in our eyes this is like the CCD in a camera well if there are no light sensitive receptors available in the universe will light still exist no. Yes there will still be photons but direct and reflected light not likely plants live on the light so they say but plants do not have eyes so what plants really live on is the energy of the photon not the perceived light that only an eye can see. So to sum up photon + object + eye = light. Photon + object = energy no light. What do you think?

New Theories / A new way of seeing light
« on: 17/08/2021 15:45:51 »
It is believed that when light lands on an object the object becomes visible due to reflection but this may not be what is happening. I propose that what is believed to be reflected light is possibly a secondary phenomenon of reactivated electrons on the surface of the object its self. Light is one of many less understood natural occurrences and can be as difficult to comprehend as gravity, space or time. Light its self is produced by electromagnetic radiation stemming from its original source the humble electron I believe that the transformation of an electron to a photon is reversed as the photon lands on an object and stimulates the electrons at the surface reproducing photons. So in conclusion, reflection NO, activation YES. Objects can produce their own light from the outside just as glow worms and many other creatures can produce chemically stimulated light from within. Any thoughts on this new theory?

Just Chat! / Aviation disaster
« on: 13/08/2021 19:34:20 »
Are there any aviation fans out there like me that are disappointed to see most of all the big commercial planes grounded. We won't see many more A380's or 747's take to the air even the 777 and A330-A340 will become redundant. It's not all due to the covid 19 it also has to do with the economics of operating big aircraft. The aviation industry is moving into new territory by operating smaller twin engine aircraft that can fly further faster and with greater cost savings. It must be very disheartening for many pilots that are without work and not flying these great majestic machines but we will still see some of them around the 747 has proven its self to be quite the work horse of the sky and will still be used for some time for freight service and the odd privet executive movers. One benefit in all of this is the many parts that will be available to keep the remanding planes in the air for quite some time. Any thoughts on this.

General Science / How can some planes can fly higher than others?
« on: 13/08/2021 13:56:42 »
Have you ever wondered how some planes can fly higher than others? I will list the contributing factors before explaining how 1. speed 2. lift 3. weight. For a plane to climb to a high altitude it must overcome the problem of the thin atmosphere. The plane must either travel very fast to generate the required lift or it must have very large wings to generate the lift these two factors also rely on the power of the aircraft and the weight. The Lockheed sr-71 is the highest flying air breathing aircraft 90.000 feet that has a speed of three times the speed of sound and has a swept delta wings and two powerful jet engines to accomplish this task it is a rather heavy aircraft but its engines compensate for this. Another high flyer is the Lockheed u-2 it can fly to 70.000 feet and travels at a speed just under the speed of sound it is much slower than the sr-71 as it flys on wings that are much larger and more delicate than the sr-71 it gains its high altitude due to increase lift and a lightweight ratio combined with a single and less powerful engine. So why can't a Boing 747 fly to these high altitudes well the 747 is not powerful enuff to heavy and lacks the lift. If the 747 was faster lighter or had larger wings it could. Are there any other reasons that could get a plane to fly so high? Thanks for reading.

New Theories / The universe may have thought its self into existence
« on: 12/08/2021 21:39:57 »
The universe may have thought its self into existence. How let's start here when we have a thought we create electrons that traverse the neurons of our mind the electrons have a mass that means that the brain is creating a negatively charged particle our little brain can only hold so much. Now if we step this up just a little bit and consider the electrons that are a part of all the hydrogen in the universe we can see how the expanse of the universe is a kind to a great neuron filled with the matter of electrons as the universe expands it fills with thought yes thought has mass. We can now safely consider the universe as a growing neuron. Please don't thank me just think about it and create some matter.

Just Chat! / Garden tip from the guru
« on: 12/08/2021 16:16:44 »
Are you sick of mowing the lawn or like me the weeds I may have a solution for you. A friend of mine gave me a tip some years ago and I tried it and it works for me. Go to your hardware or pool shop and buy large bags of pool salt they are not very expensive for the average yard you will need about six bags in total 100 kg of salt should be enuff this will cost about $60 AU. 30 pounds. The salt comes in small gravel size throw it around the yard like your feeding the chooks give the fence edges an extra dose you can wet it in or just let the night air brack it down it may take a week before it all dissolves into the ground. This will cut your mowing down by 70 to 80 % and an added bonus is no more snails and slugs around your yard. The grass and weed roots are stunted by the solt don't get it in your garden plants or food. Good luck If you're not sure just buy one bag and try it out on a problem aria first and give it a few weeks to work. It seems to stay working for a number of years. Just one more note if your yard has a slope heavy rain may wash it to your nabours yard.

Just Chat! / Chickens are over priced
« on: 09/08/2021 22:59:55 »
Why do people ask such a high price for their chickens. A block down the road from me wants $25 for each of his live chickens then I would have to do the dirty work and the power to cook it. I can just buy a ready to go cooked chicken from the grocery store for $10 and it even has stuffing. Can you work it out? Looks like they are worth more alive than dead.

General Science / Measuring time how important is it
« on: 09/08/2021 21:57:04 »
Measuring time how important is it. Well, we would still be in the dark ages without seconds on the clock. Ever since the first clock was invented to display seconds we have made leaps and bounds in many areas of life. The second hand was a need and used on timepieces from the late 15 hundreds we could now time and record a race have a time to beat or have a time to lose to. It enabled us to record and predict celestial events with greater accuracy. It improved navigation on the sea and the land it has made possible the calculation of speed. Nowadays we live by the clock more than ever the seconds have made it possible to land a craft on Mars. Do you think we could move on in this life without the fast second hand?

Just Chat! / Motoring tip from the guru
« on: 08/08/2021 13:28:48 »
Here's one for you to remember next time your cars radiator or associated plumbing springs a leek if you have some distance to travel and a repair is not an option let the system cool down and top up the radiator if you can and now the big advice leave the radiator cap off and you will be able to travel much further as the leek may even stop as having the cap removed prevents the system from pressure rising and pushing the water out through the failed point. Stay tuned for moor motoring tips from the guru.

General Science / Steam locomotives and smoke deflectors
« on: 07/08/2021 16:17:17 »
Have you ever wondered why some steam locomotives have smoke deflectors and some don't. This may be an OHAS issue but why and for who? How do the smoke deflectors on a steam locomotive work and what are they for? You may read many stories of how they work and what they are for but you will never find the truth as the railways have left this as a mystery all the way to now. So if you don't know the answer to this question just ask why.
