What is The skin disorder/disease that involves large skin tags over the body?
« on: 06/05/2009 06:55:59 »
I do not know what it is called but the tags look as if they are large moles..and in the case I speak of cover basically every square inch of the body and size differs with each mostly pea size and bigger...

Is this a skin condition as well as disease or not a disease at all ?

Is it painful and uncomfortable.. to the person who has it, besides having people stare at them and be rude and all?

Is it hereditary or not?

I assume its not cotagous at all, but curiosity has me wondering what causes it and are some people more suseptible then others to it?

Could someone explain about this condition?

Your description could be of neurofibromatosis, which is hereditary.

This person is a very sweet old person probably 80ish in age...and seems comfortable with her condition so I would hazard to say perhaps she has had it her whole life like the kid I went to school with.. but I cannot remember what is it or anything really...

NEUROFIBRONEUROSIS??

Nearly, it's Neuro-fibro-matosis (NF for short)
They are tumours which develop from nerve tissue, (not contagious, hereditary).

The tumours become larger and more numerous with age, hence the severest examples are in older sufferers.
