The next QotW comes from listener Charlie, and urine for a treat:
Maybe this is just me, but it dawned on me that whenever I have to hold in a pee, the need to go increases exponentially when I know that relief is close. Why is this?

As you get older you will find there are no rules about holding on to a pee you will find it has a mind of its own

This question has now been answered, and you can listen to it here - https://www.thenakedscientists.com/podcasts/question-week/why-do-i-need-pee-more-nearer-loo

Probably it depends on your mindset. Same as when you imagine having a very long day, you can do it. As soon as you start knowing it is only a short day you can't imagine doing more time and it is only because of your own mindset.

when I brush my teeth I seem to always need to urinate. This started a few years ago when i was about 65. I put it down to some sort of Pavlovian response but how it started remains a mystery. Maybe something to do with the running water as I brush.

Hey guys, I know that the question already found its way into the podcast, that I unfortunately hadnt had the time to listen to yet, but I found this very interesting article about the matter that I wanted to share with you guys from shape.com in their mind-and-body section, calles why-do-you-have-pee-closer-you-get-bathroom
In there they compare the situation with the famous Pavlov experiment, and i think that that is exactly it. We just associate the bathroom with the peeing itself, so much that we have to pee more if we see it, or just think about getting closer to it.
