I also think that staying together on NSF and Poiscenter is better (already 2 Forum sites is enough). UNITY MAKES STRENGTH. Every so often a message on other websites can be good. But the place to be sure seems better to stay here. This is where the experience and a good foundation is after all. [;)].

I'm still pretty new here but the fact that the views here are pretty high already raises the fact on how important it is that we get helped.

I guess every so often a skype group can be supportive for some.

NSF will not allow us to collect donations. POIScenter is have severe technical issues. There are other benefits to using reddit, as well.

Hey guys. How is everyone doing? I haven't been here in a while, would anyone like to catch me up on recent news?

Anyway, I'm doing an AMA, which is basically on online question and answer session, about POIS on a site called reddit. I'm making this post as proof, but feel free to check in and participate. Link is here:

Hello. Just checking in after a long time.

I'm now being treated for my condition as depression and I'm doing a lot better. I now mostly refer to my condition as clinical depression triggered by orgasm. Relevant comments are welcome.

If this comic strikes a chord with you, it might be something for you to look into as well.

Hey Nick,

I recently had my cortisol levels tested, they were in range, but low. Tried a cortisol supplement and I don't feel anything. Perhaps it's not the problem, but I agree, many of the symptoms sound very similar. But, at least so far, It just hasn't worked for me.

For the record, the supplement I took wasn't prescription hydrocortisone (standard bioidentical hormone supplement), it was Isocort, a supplement that is said to contain some, albeit less, active cortisol than Rx hydrocortisone. Again, I don't feel any improvement. I don't know if that's because cortisol isn't the problem, or because the Isocort was ineffective.

Yes. I too have much stronger underarm odor and oily skin and hair. Its like some hormonal system is in overdrive.
I also have the excessive thirst that someone mentioned earlier.
I really think theres alot to go on if we could just find one or several medical scientists to do a thorough study.
I would really like to do a hormone blood panel on myself at the day before and the day after O and compare the two for clues. I just dont have the money at this time.
I also had another theory about adrenaline synthesis. Alot of
our symptoms are similar to.adrenal insuffencieny.

Anyone had adrenaline tested or tried cortisol?

Health page writeup on POIS!
http://www.tandurust.com/sexual-health/postorgasmic-illness-syndrome.html

Gents, we're coming out of the Dark Ages of POIS!! How exciting!

This is great, but there are some things that I'm not so sure about such as:

Some experts believe that relational and psychosomatic issues play a vital part in POIS.

Sure, many doctors think that, but are they really experts? It's a little misleading.

Take antidepressants for the mood irregularity.

I don't think there has been one positive report here with antidepressants. Has there?

I'm gonna ask him about JAMA! Anyone else have questions?

Why don't you ask him where exactly he heard about POIS?

And by the way, I'd also like a copy of that study, Thanks.

I have found that taking a Nytol type sleep-aid speeds up my recovery. If I have a particularly awful day I will try to grab a few naps and take a Nytol at my regular bedtime (about midnight). This seems to induce deeper sleep and can help dramtically.

FinalPanic, the active ingredient in Nytol Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride, an antihistamine. Some people here have had success with other antihistamines. Doing a search might help you find out more.

I have been watching this thread for a while, but this is my first posting.
I apologize if the following ideas have been already covered, I did not look through the whole thread.

I would like to share that I had good results with the following routine:

LJ100 (150mg - 3 pills in the morning on an empty stomach, 5 days a week)
Fo Ti  (500mg - 1 pill in the morning on an empty stomach, 5 days a week with LJ100)
Bee Pollen (at least 15g, fresh granules, US pollen, dissolved before eating for improved absorption, on an empty stomach, any time, not necessary at once) -

Credit goes to Jobe27, from
http://recover.forumup.org/viewtopic.php?t=986&mforum=recover
His postings are very informative and smart, I tried a few times to deviate from his advice and each time I realized that he had a good reason for doing it in a certain way.

I am thinking that somebody else may want to try this combination and report back.

Cordyceps (especially sinensis), ashitaba, royal jelly, maca, sangre de grado, bilberry also helped me at times and they could be used to improve the above.

Also reading Jobe27's postings could give you new information that I missed or did not apply to me.

For some reason I've had the same problem with that website that others have had with this one: I can't register because I never receive the confirmation email. Except this is worse, because you can't even read the forums if you're not a member. Dionysus, maybe you could let whoever runs that forum know about that.

Well, the word Ashwagandha is Sanskrit for "horse's smell", so I might have to! Its actually supposed to give you the strength of a horse.

Guys read this link very carefully and you will understand why POIS is the result of Neuro[trasmitter]s deficiency...
http://cure-erectile-dysfunction.org/symptoms-of-sexual-exhaustion

What are the credentials of this author, a "Dr" M. (no full first name shown?) Richards, a "urologist" (no MD?). An MD education is required to call oneself a urologist, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urology

And it seems highly unlikely that a urologist would be aligned with a health-supplement business.

On the article author, I found nothing at all about him (her?) on Google. Usually, there are multiple Google  listings from one or more data collection/reporting services on health practitioners. At least for any one of the many I've visited over the years.

The website sells health-supplement products, to "cure" the ailments that they write about. A red-flag conflict of interest that casts serious doubt in my mind about any articles they write.

Last, when I clicked on the website's "About Us" section, a very terse, nondescriptive 2-liner came up, witten by "Anonymous".

The goal was not to point out @ the credentials of the author but @ the neuro-transmitters deficiency theory.....and this article explains it extremely well from a biological angle.....

In addition, if you examine the website of the "International society of sexual medecine" and search for POIS you will notice that all the doctors point out directly or indirectly to neuros deficiency through ADD/ Anxiety disorder/ Antidepressants....ect.... That in addition to many similar remarks posted on this forum....

Finally, again credibility is relative to each person....for me no one has provided me with a concrete straight forward answer nor explanation so far....therefore following tons of reading and research and endless back and forths to endos, uros, and neuros....even my own personal conclusions point out to neuros deficiency.....since auto-immune, STD's and hormonal imbalance are pre-existing disorders & are ruled out by simple elimination....the Neuro-Parasympathic system is the only feasible biological option that can and is still under the spot light.....naturally you're free to think otherwise.....but keep in mind that what we are dealing with is not like Mathematics...so there's no simple equation....it's more or less like trying to point out at a rare never seen kind of fish within a whole Ocean! This is how vague to doctors and sufferers POIS has been so far!

As to confirm even more the neuros deficiency...I would like to report again huge improvements using herbal MAOIs & SSRIS on a constant basis....thx God it seems my brain neuros are replenishing quickly....and Im lovin' it!

Hey Z_one, it's good to know you're doing well but you should know now rather than later that MAOI's and SSRI's aren't "replenishing" anything.

Something of concern:

There are people post comments on Girlwind's POIS Youtube video about not receiving a confirmation e-mail from the Naked Science forum, and thus not being able to register and share their experiences/ask questions/converse.

Demo,

Premium Service — In the coming weeks we will give you an option to purchase a “Premium Forum” for a small monthly cost. This will include additional features and mods not possible on the free system.

I don't see offering services as pressure, they can be declined simply by ignoring them, and the site will remain free.

Another quote from the same blog:

Q) So FreeForums.org is no longer free?
A) We will always remain 100% free. However, some users have expressed interest in paying money for features that we otherwise couldn’t release due to expensive development or upkeep costs. For those users, they can pay to have a Premium forum.

It's an option, not in any way a requirement.

I offered to help you with your administration via chat because it's in realtime, and it's easier than going back and forth in private messages, that's it. The first time you contacted me about having issues with your admin functions was just yesterday. I think in time, that would have most definitely have gotten sorted out.

About "Making Money", what has to be understood is that forums are not created specifically for rare disease groups, of for anything in particular. They are made to be able to accommodate almost any topic. To do this, they offer a wide range of services. Tools to make money would be great for businesses. We're not a business, so were obviously just not going to use that feature; it's not for us. But it's being there for anyone's use is not a sign of a website that has any bad intentions.

Your next point is just a simple misunderstanding. Mods, as used in your quote, stands for modifications, and NOT for moderators.

If you scroll to the bottom of this very page, you will see this:

"The contents of this site are © The Naked Scientists® 2000-2010. The Naked Scientists® and Naked Science™ are registered trademarks."

What does this mean? Does it not give the people here ownership of this forum? What is the difference?

I'm thinking it's more of a legal sort of thing. It would be silly for a hosting website to try and "steal" the information or work of forum members, at freeforums or at NSF. I can't say I know, and I'm not saying that we shouldn't be cautious or check up on these things.

Finally, I accept that a lot of people are being critical about this idea. I'm not suggesting hiding from the facts. But I don't think were at the point where the forum has proved itself to be impossible. There are a lot of benefits to the forum, some of which have already been discussed, and their value should not be so quickly forfeited.

Another good point, sweden.

Thankfully, the 5 members that have decided to join are all members who have pretty much been here since the beginning. Actually, the very beginning (Thanks John!). And you're right, it's pointless to try to do anything without them, so I can only hope that more of the '07 members will join and that other members will follow their example.

Additionally, if you're someone who has been reading this forum, for however long, please introduce yourself, at either forum, and share your experiences! We can never have too many members or too large a base of sufferers. Thanks.

Ill be working on the other forum. Hope to see you there.

A forum for member logs is up at the forum. We'll have to standardize a way to organize them as time goes on.
