Today they fire up the Large Hadron Collider.

Given the predilection for animal-based personality cults on this forum, if we don't all disappear into a massive Black Mole perhaps they will detect the Higgs Bison or Cod particle.

Oh bum, now you've given me cravings for fish fingers!

My son thought it was the Hardon Collider which might get stuck in a black hole.

I always wondered if you stood in the collider and watched a particle coming towards you would it look bigger, and then it hit me!

What happened to that story about the whole world being consumed in a black hole. Nothing we are all still here.

That was a poor attempt. Why not throw yourself off the church Tower? And take that pesky Beaver with you.

Did a bull gore your brain when you were young? Or had bulls not evolved by then?

Hackers attack Large Hadron Collider
By Roger Highfield, Science Editor  12/09/2008

Hackers have mounted an attack on the Large Hadron Collider, raising concerns about the security of the biggest experiment in the world as it passes an important new milestone.

The scientists behind the £4.4bn atom smasher had already received threatening emails and been besieged by telephone calls from worried members of the public concerned by speculation that the machine could trigger a black hole to swallow the earth, or earthquakes and tsunamis, despite endless reassurances to the contrary from the likes of Prof Stephen Hawking.

Now it has emerged that, as the first particles were circulating in the machine near Geneva, a Greek group had hacked into the facility and displayed a page with the headline "GST: Greek Security Team."

Well, "hadron" is derived from the Greek word for "fat".
