Title: What does the expression, "Bite Me" really mean?
Post by: Joe L. Ogan on 23/06/2010 00:41:47
What does the expression, "Bite Me" really mean?  This is a term that was used in the General McCrystal conversation.  I can imagine several meanings but have been unable to find an exact definition of the meaning.  Perhaps some of you more sophisticated people can explain it to me?  Thanks for comments.  Joe L. Thanks Joe - I've not come across the thing you're talking about before - can you tell me more please?

Hi, Chris.  Well, it is some sort of a derogating expression but I do not know just exactly what it means.  I can conjecture that it means something like "Go to hell" or "Up yours" or something like that but have not got anyone to tell me just what it means.  I thought someone in the forum might know but they are either reluctant to say what it means or they do not know.  Thanks for comments.  Joe L. I've heard gay men use this a lot. It is more of an American thing but I would guess it means "Do what you want with me. I don't care."

I think it's a short way of saying something along the lines of;

"I don't care what you think of what I did. What are you going to do about it? Bite me?"

I suppose it's another way of saying, "Frankly, I don't give a damn."

When someone makes a nasty remark to you or kinda sideways at you.. you would turn around and snarl....or rahrrrrr like a cat or say "Just bite me....(why don't ya) another words, you are calling to their attention that they are behaving like a backbiting brat.. just so they are aware that you heard their remark or acknowledging it...lol that you are aware of the personal attack but are letting it roll of your back.... a form of sarcasm to their remark...

The full expletive used where I come from cannot be posted on a family-friendly web site.

"Bite me" is a contraction of "mite my a.. (or d...)"

Of course, it could also be techno-slang for increasing memory size, as in;

"My PC is slower than a slug. It needs a memory upgrade. Bite me, please!"
