Title: Discuss: Nanosized Science
Post by: thedoc on 05/02/2014 19:30:01
This week we we zoom in on the subject of nano-particles to examine how tiny objects, smaller than the wavelength of light, can be making such large waves in the fields of health, optics, and electronics. Plus news of purple tomatoes on their way to your dinner plates, the medical treatment that could mean the end of peanut allergies, the acid dip that reverts cells to their stem state, and what's in the air in Beijing?

Treatment for allergies by the administration of progressively increasing doses of the offending substance is nothing new I had such treatment for asthma in the thirties and snake charmers are reputed to render themselves immune to cobra venom by a similar technique.

Indeed Nano technology will one day be everywhere in own modern society "robots" will soon use nano technology too. Instead of using motors to drive movement carbon nano tubes will act like muscles for the robot, the tubes have the ability to "flex" when electricity is applied to it just like organic muscles. look at this video explaining it

carbon nanotubes muscle

he basically said that these things can make fake muscles over 40 timws better then normal muscles!

In a very real sense, our computers already are based on nano-technology.  CPUs consist of millions of diodes that are only a few nanometers in size.

There would be a new era of pocket size high end smartphones , and much more that we are dreaming today can be achived by carbon nanotubes and graphene
