Dysfunction of which organ causes hypercholesterolemia?. NB: cause please, not just association.
-
I don't think it is due to any organ dysfunction. See here:

The site on your post lists liver, kidney and thyroid disease as causes of hypercholesterolemia.
I find it difficult to understand how dysfunction of these three different organs can produce the same disorder: hypercholesterolemia.
I appreciate that hypercholesterolemia can create microemboli which can damage any organ in the body, so disease in many organs is associated with hypercholesterolemia. But surely only dysfunction of one organ or system can be the cause ?.

Maybe it is genetic!
-
Also,
In South Africa it is prevalent as a genetic disorder in the Afrikaner, Indian and Jewish communities

Yes hypercholesterolemia can be genetic, but this still does not answer my original question of in which organ or system does it arise.
