Title: Ear Buds
Post by: Carolyn on 29/03/2007 05:35:01
Not sure if I'm posting this in the correct spot or not.  Moderators, feel free to move it if not.

Every morning when I walk I take along my IPOD.  My earbuds have a silicone tip and fit inside the ear.  They also block outside noises.  The problem I'm having with these is that I can hear my heartbeat through them.  It's as if I'm listening through a stethescope.  When my heart rate increases, I have a hard time keeping the earbud in my right ear, it keeps popping out.  This is maddening.

This didn't happen with the plain old earbuds that came with the ipod, but they were too big and hurt to wear them.

Why am I hearing my heartbeat through these?  And could my pulse actually cause them to pop out of my ears?

not too sure. But, your can take your pulse at some point of the ear. I suspect that in some way your earbuds are enhancing or amplifying the "beat", no pun intended.

sure someone has a better answer.

When my Blood pressure was up, I heard my heartbeat in my ears quite well every time I covered my ears, it seemed like it was beating quite loudly low way down in the ear drum it felt like a really heavy duty pulse beating in my ear to the point that if I touched my ear behind the lower lobe against the back of the ear. I felt it beating hard with my finger, enough I did not need to apply pressure. Haven't had it happen since my blood pressure went to normal!
