Regrettably, I've been a BT customer for a long time. Half way through a contract they hiked all their prices up; my business operating costs for comms have roughly doubled.
Now they've just sent me a cheery email letting me know that I'll still be benefiting from the great service I receive but, from January, you've guessed it... the prices are going up AGAIN.
A local GP I know showed me their practice accounts the other day; they're on BT too, and their costs have doubled since last year. They are now paying nearly £12k for their telephony...
I am disgusted with BT. I agreed to stay with them 2 years ago because they offered me a cost-effective calling package, so I rejected an offer from a competitor.
Along the way they messed up my bills for 18 months and caused me huge headaches trying to rectify the situation, which eventually they did and were forced to compensate me with a fairly significant payout.
Now they have jacked up prices by an outrageous margin, mid-way through contracts.
Absolutely disgraceful.
I'm saying BYE-BYE to BT. Anyone else with me?.

Not that I mind greatly, but I'm intrigued to know why you decided to duplicate my post?

Meanwhile, I'm pleased to report, that after I left BT they were still sending me bills, and helping themselves to money from our accounts, for almost a year after the contract was terminated. Every quarter we were forced to complain and petition for a refund. Eventually one came, but only after a succession of calls. The amount they owed was considerable (hundreds of Pounds); had we not been on the ball and watching our accounts carefully, these charges (by direct debit) could easily have gone unnoticed.
BT win the award, hands down, for the worst customer service I have encountered from a company. The jacking up of the bill and altering the charges mid-contract was also beyond the pale. And then continuing to rob money for 12 months after we'd paid to be released from the contract (because the service and price competitiveness were so diabolical) just took it to a whole new level.
