Title: Bridezilla Behaviour..Stress Relief..4 fun
Post by: moonfire on 06/08/2006 06:02:50
Okay, here is number uno email we received for the wedding...Most of the bridesmaids are family and this is a super huge wedding. (I have refused to reply as I am scared I will light a fire for sure)  Tell me what you would do in response to each email?  [:o)]I would like to pass on any advice or anything humorous to the other bridesmaids to alleviate stress and then have a party after she is married and let her know how she was acting!  LOL(she usually has a great sense of humour and after the wedding she will have it back, whew!)

From the bride to be
Hi Girls,

Just a couple of things:

1) In order to get your dress steamed I need to have the dresses IN the store by the 31st, which is next Monday.  Not in the mail to me by the 31st because I wont be home to receive the package so it till be at the post office and the post office will be closed by the time I get off of work, etc. etc…..  I would like to take them in on Saturday (the 29th).  I will wait for the mail on Saturday.  If I don’t have your dress by then, then I will not be able to take it and you will be responsible for getting it wrinkle free.

2)I am looking at the Marriott reservation list and one of you has not made your reservation yet.  Please let me know if you intend on staying at the Marriott or not.  I signed a contract for rooms at the group rate for you guys.  If we don’t get people in these rooms then I will have to pay for the empty rooms.  So please please please if you are going to stay in a hotel, stay at the Marriott!  Remember this rate is only good through this Friday.  And, there is only one room at this rate left for Thursday night, so please call as soon as you can.  (there are still several rooms available for Friday night.)

3)Please remember that rehearsal is at 4:00 on Thursday afternoon.  We need to be AT the chapel by 3:30 so we can get started right at 4.These people don’t play! Hahahah!  They will start it at 4:00 and will have us finished by 5:00.  So, for those of you that have chosen to travel in on Thursday, please plan your travel accordingly.

4)I tried to make this experience as painless as possible for each of you.  I know it’s a lot to ask for you to come and participate.  I tried to plan an event for all of us to get together since I don’t ever get to see any of you.  You guys, you 5 mean the absolute world to me, you’re my best friends.  Since one of you wont be here until Thursday, I scheduled a thing for Thursday night in my room at the hotel.  Please plan on participating in that as that is part of my gift to you.  This will take place after the rehearsal dinner.  So please dont make any plans for that evening!  Plan on spending it with the other bridesmaids, junior bridesmaids and me!

5)I have put a lot of thought, planning, work and money into this day.  I know its not your wedding so it’s just another wedding or another day to you, but it is extremely important to me.  I asked each of you to be part of this because you mean a lot to me. If being part of my wedding is inconvenient because you have to take off work or drive, or it interferes with your vacation plans or its costing you more than you had anticipated, or whatever, then please don’t feel you HAVE to participate. I told you everything that was involved up front TEN months ago.  I want you to WANT to be here and do all the stupid wedding stuff with me, but if you don’t want to, that’s your choice. Trust me, we will have fun without you!  I don’t want to hear any more about the problems being part of my wedding is causing you.  If its THAT much of an inconvenience that you have to tell me, then don’t participate, its that simple.

6)Sorry to sound so harsh, but you know what? My bridesmaids certainly haven’t been concerned about my feelings these last couple weeks, so I’m just putting it out there to you as well.

7)Please let me know if you still plan on participating.

8)For those of you who aren’t married, elope!

Hope to see you all there,

Numero Dos letter from oldest sister...whew!  This sister...is about to jump ship...I think it is another Titantic!  Enjoy...we were all forwarded the emails and it is pretty funny in one sense...

First of all, I have never been the real girly girl,
sappy type. You know that. So me not being all yay
about all this was not intentional.
The snippy emails to your bridesmaids are not helping
the situation in the least.

So this is all I have to say,

I don't appreciate being treated like a child, like I
cant get my dress, shoes, accessories etc. taken care
of. I am an adult and will and have been planning
accordingly. You have to remember, we are not 18 and
can't jump whenever you ask.

I was not asked by you to be a bridesmaid, you just
told me I was in it. I would have felt more a part of
all this and felt it was more from the heart had I
been honorably asked, by you, the bride. You told me
that you have someone on stand by incase dad isn't
presentable. I just couldn't see how someone so vital
to the ceremony could be blown off that easily so I
just figured we were all replaceable as well.

I wanted to get there the week before, per your
request, to help with any last minute stuff that needs
to be taken care of.  I have been keeping this from
you but Tyra's school said it will be a mistake and
unexcused absences to take her out of school for that
long, so I told them WHATEVER this is my sisters
wedding!!!  This is the crap I don't and never wanted
to bother you with. It is petty and I am taking care
of it on my own. Therefore my travel plans have not
been definite.

I cannot do much from here but once I arrive in okc I
am at your beck and call.  I do realize I am
bridesmaid for a reason. Whether it is slapping
Theresa for not paying attention to you (my sister)
when you were picking out your dress, or if it is
something as simple as zipping up your dress, with
tears in my eyes right before you walk down the aisle.
I am one hundred and fifty percent behind you and your
day of happiness. Yes this is to some, just another
wedding, but to me it is the beginning of my sister's
life with the man she loves.  I am honored to be a
part of this day.

As for my dress, it was finally ready yesterday
(Wednesday), I will be over-nighting it to mom's house
today, so it will be there tomorrow (Friday)! It is
gorgeous and I am totally in love with it. I wanted to
wear it to work today hahaha j/k

I am and always will be the proud and YOUNGER sister
of Dr. Kinnard (in the making)....... Oh yeah and
Tim's too! :)

Just remember to breath in breath out! This day will
all come together and be more beautiful than you ever
imagined. We will all make sure of this!!!

I love you more than you know and want this to be the
best day of your life!

Should you take this email the wrong way and feel my
participation in your wedding is not needed and/or
wanted please do not hesitate to inform me as soon as
possible, if not I will see you next Saturday the 5th
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE YOU RAW BUNZ!!!!!!!!!!!

Your Sister,

XXXX

P.S. Can you have a double doozie cake with a tear of
crust atop hahhahahahaha

Numero Tres!  Do you feel the fire burning yet???  I know there is more to come...we are all in trouble at this point...I want to say so bad..ROBIN, step away from the computer or Step away from the email...YIKESSSSS!!

From the bride to be!

From now on I will let my coordinator take care of all of this.  I am just frustrated because whenever I send an email, no one EVER responds.  If people would communicate with me, just let me know SOMETHING, but no.  No one writes back or calls back and then I don’t know whats going on!  But, believe it or not, EVERYbody responded to this last email.  Why does it take me being upset to get a response?

AND, the past brides I have spoken to told me that they picked out EVERYTHING for their bridesmaids from their hair pieces to their shoes.  I didn’t want to do that. I wanted you all to have choice, I wanted you all to be wearing something YOU were going to be comfortable in and enjoy wearing. But at the same time I wanted to give you a little guidance so everybody wouldn’t look TOTALLY different. The only thing I am asking is that each of you have professional hair and makeup for the wedding.  I was TRYING to do you all a favor by offering to take your dresses to Alfred Angelos to be steamed and picked up for you.  Because I KNOW I could NEVER get a dress from one part of the country to another, whether it be by plane or car or train, without keeping it from getting wrinkled, that’s just me.  So I THOUGHT it would be nice to offer that.  As I said earlier, I know it’s a lot to ask for you to come here so I was trying to make things as easy for you as possible.  But no one responded, so I put it out there AGAIN to let you all know that the time was approaching and if you wanted me to do that I needed the dresses quickly.  If ANYONE had said (back on June 30th)"no thanks I'll take care of it myself," or "thanks, that’s a great idea," that would have been nice. But it took this last email for ANYONE to tell me either, "no thanks" or "I am shipping it to you."  If any of you feel like I have treated you in a way that is unacceptable, I apologize.  Im just trying to make sure things are taken care of.

As for you and Kelly telling me that you weren’t asked to be a bridesmaid you were told, I did ask you because both of you told me mom said something to you when this all first started.  It was quick!  Kellys was over the phone and yours was over messenger.  I don’t know the etiquette of asking someone to be a bridesmaid. I didn’t know that there was a formal way of doing it.  I thought that you and Kelly, being my sisters, wanted to be part of it and I couldn’t imagine you not being part of it.  However, I have the feeling that IF I had asked you two, you would have said no.  And YOU, you and Kylene are the ones who I felt were the most behind me. You were the one who told me to TELL my bridesmaids what I needed them to do instead of asking them because obviously asking them wasn’t working because I never got any responses.  YOU told me I was being too nice.  You and Kylene are the only ones I talk to regularly.  I don’t talk to the others, despite my efforts to contact them.

As for your travel, I asked you what the problem was because you wouldn’t commit.  But you told me that you were keeping Tyra out of school for 2 weeks.  There was no need for that to be part of the wedding.  You told me that you didn’t want to travel on your birthday, you told me that you wanted to take your time and drive. None of that makes sense if Tyras school was an issue.  Obviously I don’t want her missing school for 2 weeks and never even asked that.  You told me that you were thinking about going to the beach for a week after leaving here, if Tyras school was an issue, why would you even consider that?  I don’t want to be the reason for Tyra to get unexcused absences so maybe you better come the day of rehearsal like you had mentioned.  Im sorry if you feel I pressured you into coming earlier.  Im sorry to all of you if you feel I put pressure on any of you for anything. I guess I got a little too excited and wanted to spend as much time with you as possible because you all live so far away. I don’t need anything from any of you except to be here for me and show up!  I have a coordinator to take care of all the details.  I was trying to keep this process personal. I didn’t want to communicate to you about all the details through my coordinator but from now on that’s what I will do and sincerely wish I would have done.  I’ll let her tell you what needs to be done that way I won’t look like the bad guy for trying to take care of business.

I love you all and am looking forward to seeing and spending time with all of you.  From now on, for anything concerning the wedding, please contact my coordinator, xxxxxxxxxxx

Don’t worry, you’ll get your double doozie!

I have yet to respond.  I am playing it safe by telephone....but wish to wait it out...the response was from another bridesmaid in the wedding.  It is a huge wedding we are in...and we are only about 1/2 or 3/4 of the way through!!!  LOL

Numero Quatro from the sister again...whew!  You think the heat is hot outside...uh, think again...I still have kept my mouth closed in emails and just answer the questions when asked of me when she calls or to offer encouraging words...bridezilla is on the loose big time and I am not going to get in her way!  LOL  She really is a sweet gal...okay, her sisters all are and her friends.....aagghh!

Yes, I agree I told you to just tell the other
bridesmaids what was happening regarding the hair,
make up & manicures. I told you this because you were
getting frustrated then about it. I figured just
telling them what was available to them was now
required (since that's what you wanted). There is
nothing wrong with putting your foot down. I mean it
is your wedding right?

Also, between mom telling us we are in the wedding and
you just assuming because we're your sisters does not
mean a thing. Had you asked me just as simple as you
asked Leo or who ever else, that would have been
special, comprende? And why on earth would you ever
think I would say no to the opportunity to be a part
of such a beautiful, emotion filled day, just for YOU?

I wouldn't commit to travel because weeks ago the
school office told me it was fine she could miss the 2
weeks. I wanted to be there and spend time with my
family too you know. On Tuesday when we went to the
school the Vice Principle was the one that told me
this NEW information. THAT is why I was making other
plans and trying to figure out what needed to be done
and when. I do realize you never pressured me into
coming early, I on the other hand WANTED to be there
for you since I hadn't been able to participate in any
of the "wedding crap."

Me and Tyra will be there Saturday the 5th of August.

Any further questions or wedding related information
will be forwarded to Barbara, per your request

Letter number 5...the apology...but we aren't finished yet...there is yet more to come...hehe

Ladies,
Obviously this has gotten out of hand. I never intended for any of this
to happen. But then again, the road to hell is paved with good
intentions. It has come to my attention that my previous emails (prior
to Monday) were harsh.  They were never intended to sound harsh. In my
mind they were simply stating facts, actions that needed to be taken and
consequences.  And most of them were sent because a bridesmaid was
having a problem.  I was just trying to prevent the same problem with
the rest of you.  But the message is what is received not what is sent.
I didn't send the messages in a way that was meant to be received.  Does
that even make any sense?  As I stated earlier, I SHOULD have let
Barbara handle all of this.  Coming from me it sounds bossy, coming from
a coordinator, it would have sounded like she was trying to get things
taken care of.  However, we are neither here nor there.  I have more
pressing things to work on, right Leo?  Leo went to pick up her dress
and it was the wrong color and at this point there is absolutely nothing
Alfred Angelo can do about it.  So we (Barbara, Leo and I) are trying to
find a peach dress.  It's a good thing you all have different dresses so
she'll still fit right in.

I thank those of you who responded to me and not to everyone.  I don't
know why it was felt that this needed to be everybodys business.  I
apologize if any of you have felt uncomfortable.

Once again, I apologize if I ever treated you in a way that is less than
acceptable.

I send my thanks to those of you who have sent me encouraging words.

Letter number 6...it is the sister again...aagghh!

I felt it imperative to respond to all that you had
listed on your Monday message.
We as the bridesmaids should all be on the same page,
and should have been from the beginning.
If there was something wrong with Loretta's dress, or
something bothering you in any way, we, as your
bridesmaids, should have been informed and whether you
think so or not we all would have supported you
through the situation. After all that is our job. We
are supposed to be here to make it easier for you. but
on the same hand it is not our job to receive
demeaning emails, no matter who they were towards.

Another thing, Tyra was worried about playing outside
with her friends and swimming because you had told her
she had to get rid of her tan lines. Well I am sorry
for the inconvenience but this is something no one can
control.

It seems I have upset the bride and god knows whom
else, so it is with my deepest regrets I inform you
and the bridal party, my daughter and myself are not
going to be able to attend the wedding.

We do however send our happiest thoughts to you and
hope it is the wedding of your dreams.

Letter number 7...I forgot to mention...my dress is correct...but she meant another person's..now this letter is from the bride herself...it is really getting ugly..now..for all you brides or meant to be...think long and hard about the stress in this process...

I NEVER NEVER EVER told Tyra she had to get rid of her tan lines!
Barbara told MEEE I had to lose my tan lines because my dress is
strapless.  But that's it.  Im not gonna sit here and try to explain
away something I never said.

However, I do respect your decision not to attend.

believe ME she will get a good talking to if she lied
to me. maybe she was just worried because she might
have over heard you talking about it, i dont know.

i do hope you have the wedding of your dreams.

please respectfully take me off your bridesmaids email
list, for i am no longer a part of the festivities.

Thank You

Letter 9 another sister...scared to say the wrong thing after her sibling just dropped out..hehe

I will respect your wishes and not say anything.  I just hate to see all of this!  Well that affect your groomsmen in anyway?  Did I meet Toni when you and Timothy graduated?  Where does she live?  I think I remember meeting your parents and daughter.

I am getting excited for the both of you.  I was feeling a lot of anxiety about coming because my mother will be there, but I am not going to let her get to me either.  A lot of that changed when I talked to my father on my birthday. a few weeks ago.  She will behave herself in front of you all, so you will not have to worry about her, and I promise to do the same.

It will all be okay.  As I said, we are all here for you, and don't hesitate to let me know if you need anything!

Letter 10...whew!  The storm has calmed down a bit..but I have a feeling we have not rode it out yet...
Hello!

I just wanted to let you all know that I am fine.  Trust me, Toni not being here is not going to affect anything.  Those of you that know her know how she is and know that her absence will probably a good thing.  The only thing is that Tryone wont be coming either.  That makes me extremely sad because she was looking so forward to her duties.  So, no worries ok?  I do want to apologize again for sounding harsh in my emails, please know it was NEVER meant that way.  And, I want to apologize for all of you being drug into this.  Toni had no business sending that email to everyone.  Toni has always always done her best to humiliate me in front of my friends and family.  For some reason she gets pleasure out of it.  She has always been nothing but hateful and hurtful towards me.  And I have always given her the benefit of the doubt, thinking “she wont be like that,” but she always is.  She’s not coming to hurt me, but you know what???  I don’t need her to be happy.  Im not going to let her ruin this day.  And, the fact that all of you are coming means the world to me!!!!  The fact that each of you are taking time out of your busy lives to come share and be part of this day is absolutely incredible.  I feel lucky to have so many people who do care about me and want to be here with me.  Thank you so much for bearing through all of this and I am looking very forward to seeing you and spending time with all of you.

I love you all!

Letter 11...a sister emailed me...she seems to be fairing well in this..hehe

With all of this bridezilla stuff going on, it made me realize that I had not tasted our wedding cake.  Well Loretta, I thawed it out on Saturday.  It was actually very good!  The wedding was June 25th of last year, so it kept up to the tradition.

Well, I guess that things have calmed down a little bit with sis.  Why haven't you said anything yet...you are usually the peacemaker???  I think if anyone can talk reason to her, you could...why don't you email her?  Hey, call me Monday at the office and tell them Dr. Watson must take this call and will alert the office manager I must take your call!

Letter 12...my response to this sister..

I know what you mean..hehe  I am glad your cake was delicious and please send my love to Preston!

I am glad things are calming down a bit too...I was covering one eye with my hand as I read each email coming through..it was an inferno there...yikes!  I have chose to sit back and observe...I am thinking of a way to get Toni back in by talking to Robin, but I must wait until Robin is ready to talk about it, number one.  Number two, she has to be calm enough to talk as well as listen.  I will listen to her, but she has to agree at the beginning of the conversation that we will come to an agreement before I leave as I don't think emailing might be the best option as tone inflection could be important to her.  She needs to know I am hearing her as well as being an outsider of the family looking in.  Tony, no problem.  She will come back to the wedding party.  I will call you Monday, as I am off, let me know if you can do lunch?

Hugs and kisses to you and I am so glad you are not feeding off the fire!!

Ok, Loretta, it's time to pass out the valium in the giant, economy size!!

I can sympathize with your sister.  I got married in my grandparents back yard in Illinois, but my husband, maid-of-honor and myself had to come up from Texas.  I can relate to the stress, but not the "fire".  Tell those girls to get a grip and not mix rotten memories into what should only be happy ones!

I know Jody....Everyone has flight booked and will be setting up a meeting with this nervous bride to be as her sisters are all calling me and asking me to talk with her...I will pad myself down with bubble wrap as she may want to poke at me and I need protection...but as I am one of the 2 outsiders in this shindig...I better go prepared...I am strategizing...I will have Toni and Robin on speaking terms and Tony will be along beside me up in front with the rest of the brides party!

Whew...it is scary at this point..Bride to be has called me 7 TIMES today!  She has me going to Oklahoma City a night earlier...and has 15,000 things for me to do as she can rely on me!  AAGGHH!

11 days left until the big event...biting my nails as I get ready to talk to bridezilla...geez, I hope she comes to terms that we have to come to an agreement before ending all conversation!  She will be in town for a moment on Saturday afternoon and back to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma...aagghh!  I have one hour to perform a miracle...God you have to help me now!  I have heard from almost all the family that is in the bridal party...what in the world?  I guess they think I can walk on water...I have only done that momentarily on ice??  And of course, I have fallen down too!  Holding breath as Saturday is approaching quickly and prayerfully Robin will listen to me as I will listen to her first.

You'll do great.  I love the bubble-wrap idea!  Once she gets her mind off "who's right and who's wrong and who is being mean to whom", and back on how much she loves her sisters and friends, she'll be fine.  You'll have her laughing in no time. [:D]

Of course she has 15,000 things for you to do.  That's what friends are for!  [;)] Go get 'em, girl!

BTW, the wedding is in Oklahoma City.  Where are you?  Also, how old is this girl?

WOW, we were practically neighbors!  I used to live in Fort Worth.  My mom, who lives with my brother and his family, lives in Lipan (just a little southwest of FW, near Granbury.)  I lived there 6 years, then moved to Racine, Wisconsin in 2000.

So what now?  Cover the bubble-wrap with aluminum foil?  LOL!  I'd have to say, at 43, Bridezilla should know better!!

8 Days left....Meeting time with the Bridezilla!

Okay, I survived the Bridezilla test...whew!  Met with Ms. Robin, who was at least at the 10th level of stress...after agreeing to what our terms was before we spoke, I noticed that she had this certain glaze in her eyes as if she was there, but not...she rattled off another 100 or 200 things she wanted me to do.  I rationalized with her that she is very stressed and needed all of her family and friends support.  Finally, talked her into Toni coming back to the bridal party as it will be uneven and besides, by the time someone gets another dress she will be married, the pictures won't look right, and one of the groomsmen will walk alone unless he goes with the flower girls and ring bearer??  She agreed, called Toni and talked to her and she finally agreed...whew, she was the easy one...I am still in awe why her consultant hasn't tried to talk to her about it???  Oh, well, I had accomplished what needed to be done and have extra things to do when I make it to Oklahoma City Friday...aagghh!

7 Days left...the groom to be...

Ahhh, bridezilla struck again!  They were having a nice meal at a restaurant and we got word that she left him there...aagghh!  Robin!!!!  I am virtually shaking her!  His sister had to pick him up and tried to talk to her on the cellie...she screamed at her and said you take him home...oh boy...heard she was mad at him as he hasn't done a thing(which isn't true) besides honeymoon location, he and his fellas started the tux process out and they are ready to be picked up the day of the event....gosh, we may not have an event if this keeps up...whew!

Um, didn't I see all of this in "Father of the Bride."  Is Robin's goal to live out an old Hollywood movie?  [?]

The consultant probably hasn't talked to her about all of this because she's SCARED of her!!  (I would be! [;)])

You get a big gold star for being such a great friend.  (You should also be getting "combat pay."  I'll talk to the Pentagon, see what I can do.  [:D])

Hang in there!!! [:X]

The Saga of Bridezilla has finally ended...

Arrived in OKC, Bridezilla and my job blew up my phone alot on the road...aagghh!  Bridezilla was awfully demanding, but we finally met her expectations of doing this and that.  She was the most beautiful bride the day of her wedding...she wept and wept..we had to calm her down while she was getting ready...we wept with her during moments of this preparation time.  Her groom called and also sent her a beautiful gift some diamond earrings to tell her thank you for marrying him.  She broke down and cried...they talked on the phone 5 minutes...but bridezilla turned into a beauty no more beast after wedding was over...she was her normal self..and off to Aruba they have went!

Anyone else have an experience like this????  aagghh!  LOL

I've seen some emotional brides (in fact, my dad had to give me a valium the night before my wedding), but Bridezilla takes the cake!  I'm so glad it turned out well in the end.  You'll be laughing about this for years!  You should get a medal.  "Valor above and beyond the call of duty."  Everybody should have a friend like you!  [:D]

Well roast her gently and be kind as she may be very tender about her past nervous reactions to tieing the knot!

She's a doctor?  Wonder what she's been like around the office.  If she was as crazy there as she was at home, her staff probably has some excellent stories, too.  Poor Robin  [:(], will she ever live this down?  [;)][:D]
