Last night I had several friends come come over and we got into a discussion about physics. We got to talking about the wave nature of a particle and one of them asked, "If a particle sometimes acts like a wave does that mean it is a wave?" and of course my response, "No it is a particle it's just that some observations see it as a wave.". Later thinking about my response I wondered is that really true. Isn't it possible the exact opposite is true, that it is really a wave and some observations see it as a particle?

Suppose I am two meters outside the the event horizon of a black hole. I observe someone turning a laser beam on from a planet circling the black hole. The beam is aimed at another planet in the same system. When I try to measure the speed of that beam I find it to be almost infinite because my clock is almost stopped and no time passes between when the beam was fired and when it got to it's destination. There are circumstances where it can be infinite.

 On the matter of time. A gravity well basically extends to infinity and a clock runs slower the deeper it is in that well, so we could say that time like a gravity well gets smaller (runs faster) as you go farther away from the central mass, a sort of time/gravity bubble that gets thinner the bigger it gets. Using that analogy the Universe is full of these time/gravity bubbles, a kind of spaces within spaces. It seems possible that there might be a bigger bubble that our Universe is contained inside and that some event inside that bubble created our Universe.

A light source that starts at T = 0 and travels 300,000 km in one second as measured by a clock is how we measure c. Light would not slow in the early Universe but the clock you use to measure it with would. Therefore when you make your measurement the light beam would travel a much greater distance giving c a higher value.

Bill S, He is dodging the problem. Go back to when the Universe is four million years old. A clock then would run very slow compared to today. From a clock's frame of reference then c would be much faster.

In space I have a device that will emit a beam of light which I call device A. Three hundred thousand kilometers away I have a detector which I call device B. Some distance away I have a clock which is entangled with device A and B such that when A emits the beam my clock starts and when device B detects the beam my clock stops. I trigger device A to fire and my clock shows a time of one second determining the speed of light to have it's current value. I now move my clock to the edge of the event horizon of a black hole and trigger device A again. If my logic is correct don't I measure c to be almost infinite?

The equation, F = K_eQ₁Q₂/r² as everyone knows, is used to determine the force between two charged particles at some distance r. Suppose Q₂ was racing around inside a donut shaped tube, would that change the force on Q₁?

If there is a reality separate from observation then QM fails and entanglement fails.
