What if we are looking at the photon all wrong? Could the photon in reality be a continuous surface with no time dimension that exists in our perception as a particle?  It would surely explain spooky action at a distance if there was a continuous medium that connected all points in space at the same moment.

New Theories / Are we constantly shifting dimensions?

Have you ever noticed some small thing you were certain of was different?  Is it just a fluke of memory? Or if we are a hundred percent certain, could it be that we shifted into an alternate dimension and didn't even realize we had, the other dimension being so like our own except for the one thing that was different?  Could we be shifting arbitrarily between these alternate realities?  This plays somewhat into the idea of intention, and whether intention doesn't really change the world, but is the mechanism or sense to allow us to shift to that other dimension.  Do we shift to that other place because that place has the prize we have been seeking, and our intention sniffs it out, and draws us into the alternate reality. The only problem is the law of unintended consequences.  If you shift into another reality what do you leave behind?  Maybe people don't really die they just become separated from those they knew, entering the other reality.

Higher entropy allows for current flow even when no voltage is present.  If the photon is a representation of a higher dimension infiltrating our 3D space, could we harness the dispersion of this higher dimension as a form of extremely high entropy to harness the power of the universe?

We don't as yet know the viral mechanism that triggers Multiple Sclerosis (MS), but some science suggests the environment is full of the stuff and that only certain individuals get sick from it.  If MS patients are carriers of the disease wouldn't their non-sick spouses who have been exposed to it from repeated exposure to their spouse have within themselves the immunity anti-bodies that would provide a cure for their loved ones?

Looking on the Internet for the answer to this question it leads you to Jack Kirby and the New Gods from 1971.  However I remember reading an old science fiction novel whose author or title that I can't recall.  In the novel an secret agent in a sci-fi setting was on another planet, with interplanetary travel standard, and the agent uses a motherbox imbedded in his brain, acting as an AI to help the agent with his missions.  The novel from the fifties also had cell phones, ATM machines, and credits instead of money.  The agent could also trigger a physical enhancement that would give the agent super reflexes and strength for a brief period of time before needing recharging.  This novel was from the 1950s or perhaps the 60's, I can't recall exactly.. The author wrote the novel in a serious, humorous style and I remember it being a quick read.  The novel almost parallels what we are going through in today's technology and I was trying to find out whether there was an earlier mention of the motherbox idea.

If we place an uncooked egg in a pool of ferrofluid in a container surrounded by a quadrupole magnetic field and dropped the container from a height of 10 meters would the magnetically stabilized ferrofluid prevent the egg from damage and the forces of momentum?  Basically asking if the ferrofluid can act as an acceleration damper.

As most of the planet killers headed our way originate in the asteroid belt, can we sort of get them before they get us?  Couldn't we map all the bodies in the asteroid belt, map their trajectories, then using space tugs redirect the ones headed our way anyhow into a lunar orbit? Then we could run mining operations from the moon to the asteroids orbiting the moon.

A nuclear reaction transforms mass into an explosive energy release in the form of intense heat and light.  Can the reaction instead be controlled to shift mass into momentum?  Can momentum be imparted to electrons flowing in a magnetic ring? Further could their movement in the ring create an induction current outside the reactive system to produce commercially usable electricity?

In this article, https://d22izw7byeupn1.cloudfront.net/files/RevModPhys.70.721.pdf , it talks of effects of electromagnetic radiation and the trapping thereof in a quadrupole magnetic field.  If the electromagnetic radiation could adhere to all the molecules in an aircraft, could the trapping force of the quadrupole magnetic field hold all the molecules stationary, protected from inertia? Could this act as an inertial damper protecting occupants from G forces due to acceleration?

Could we improve automation of an aircraft for failsafe's to be built into the autopilot so that if the AI recognizes a crash parameter it would automatically seize control of the planes wing surfaces, to put the plane into a normal flight envelope?  If such a system had been in place for the Germanwings 9525 incident, the AI would've recognized a crash condition, taking into account the planes speed, GPS position, terrain map, and direction that the course of action initiated was not survivable, and would have altered wing control surfaces to recover the plane to a safe flight envelope.  I further think our black boxes are not enough measures to record an aircraft's flight.  With cloud computing and improved sensors, I believe even more data could be recovered from a flight, if during the flight the flight data were sent in bursts over a communications link to the ground for temporary storage until the aircraft's next flight.  I also think an aircraft should have a jettisonable beacon/drone that would provide the last known position of the aircraft and have on board the entire set of flight data, including voice and sensor readings.  And if a drone then the drone should attempt to track and follow the aircraft after jettison.

Being away from the house, in the past, one would leave a light on to simulate a presence in the house to promote security.  Can we do the same when hackers can see all messaging from the Internet of Things in a house?  Can we record the wifi signaling, then play it back to act like we are leaving a light on in the house?

I'm thinking of the horror of an anti-matter fuel cell exploding inadvertently.  Could we consider keeping not only the anti-matter separated from regular matter, but also keeping the anti-matter particles in the fuel cell separated from each other, so that if if there is a loss of containment only one reaction would occur, rather than a release of total potential.  I'm also thinking of the mechanism that introduces the anti-matter particle into the reaction chamber and the design of the chamber to harness electricity produced.  What initially comes to mind is the mechanism that only allows one lottery ball into the selection chamber at once, a mechanical limiting principle.  Instead of having a single volume of a reaction chamber, I envision a system the circulates the anti-matter in a continuous stream, and only one anti-matter is admitted to the reaction chamber, and the chamber is convoluted in a massive manifold within a magnetic bottle.  The manifold would be engineered to direct the flow of electrons and reduce/control the outflow of power.

Can an Artificial Intelligence construct act as a legal Final Will and Testament for an individual?  The actual text of the will would not be discoverable without allowing the AI construct, perhaps represented by an avatar or recreated individual persona, to run through its programming.  All the words the individual would want to say to his/her heirs would be stored in a dictionary with pointers.  The programming in the AI construct would reassemble the context based on intended messages by the deceased.  Heirs would access the information by asking the AI questions.  Everything from the person's life could be revealed to heirs upon demand, both a memoir and a final statement.  The actual significance of decisions of the deceased could be programmed into the AI construct, so courts would be clear as to intent.

chiralSPO, you are right on the money for the concept, using some form of spectroscopy to see at depth through a material.  It doesn't have to be IR that was just an example of the process, it could be Raman, CSRS, CARS, etc. Trying to set up a coherent vibration pattern that would be passed along from molecule to molecule.  The initiating beams would be pulsed, and during the pause between pulses the molecules in the material would revert to an equilibrium state and by doing so give a characteristic vibration.  I would think, speculate the total energy input would determine the total depth of scan.  I think, speculate that multiple beams applied would allow transfer of vibrations deeper into a material as I speculate that the vibrations of one beam excite the molecules enough to make them transparent to the next vibration inducing beam.  Something like Flash from the comic books who in the comic vibrated his body fast enough to pass through a wall as if it were not there.

In IR spectroscopy they induce a vibrational response in a material to understand its composition. If we set a series of induced pulsed vibrations in a material would they create a resonance that would transfer through multiple objects or materials in a coherent beam? Could we read the vibrational response in reverse through the beam in the rest phase between pulses?  Using time of signal return the variations of vibrational response would be like a core sample through any combinations of material and/or voids.

Couples, team mates, fellow crew members know each other so well that their interactions can be governed by unspoken intent.  Can we program artificial intelligence to respond to intent?  In such a way a program interface will react almost as if they can read our minds.  The programming for this can occur in and take advantage of the time scale difference between man and machine. In the time scale differences of telecommunications and man we send video messages across the globe through the Internet, and everything looks smooth as long as the transmission delay is kept below 150 milliseconds.  In an intention engine we would just be speeding up the reaction time of the AI device, by giving the device the ability to sense cues of voice tone, body language, and phrasing, then preloading probable possible outcomes.  Then when the estimated cues intersect with real inputs, the AI computer will react as if it already knew what you wanted.  The incredible processing speed just makes the reaction seem smooth, although there is still a small delay.  It would make the AI responses seem on par with our human partners.

Robots come in many forms, form factors do not have to be humanoid.  An ideal bot for a black box would include the capability you mention in it repertoire of abilities.  The swimming ability could utilize the new tech that enables a submersible to use buoyancy control to swim long distances.  Other abilities could be to crawl, walk, or fly.  The robot wouldn't activate until a crash occurs and only after a set waiting period has expired, for ideally the crashed craft should be as intact as possible, so investigators can make valid determinations.
