Penguins would more than likely fill the ecological niche of the now extinct Great Auk (Pinguinus impennis)

There's a conspiracy theory that the Great Auk are still around.

Yes, obviously as they where very elusive and difficult to catch. Just like the Dodo, Elephant bird, Aurochs.

Also polar bears would have difficuly during the winter months as there is no nearby land masses to move to so there will probably be a lack of food and probably be annoyed they had missed all the penguins.

On the " quuestion of the week" thread about the effects of the early earth impacts and absorption of other bodies tectonic plates where mentioned as an effect of planitary collision. It is stated that earth having tectonic plates is to do with granite, which floats and seperatley Earth having liquid water.

Any more to add?

Diabetes melletus can be caused by other factors than genes, such as auto immune disorders, obesity etc, it's possible that any "cure" is similarly abstract. Linking coincidental events is a path to madness.

The "miracle cure of cancer" is when the body returns to normal and recognises mutant cells and begins to resume disposing of them. It is quite normal, the body not disposing of anomalous cells is the problem.

Look at the current reading from the grid to see where the power is being generated at present.
Today is currently, slight breeze and cloud/sunny Monday morning 16 September weather,

 Max demand is 35GW.  This is generated by 5GW nuclear [mostly French interconnector], 2GW wind, 4GW solar, 4GWBiomass/incinerators, 1GW hydro, 4GW EU interconnectors, 12GW CCGTgas, and 3GW others.

So, to green the grid we need to generate the base 24 hour day and night load using nuclear 24 GW which will be backed up by wind 20GW average and solar 20GW average daytime only plus incinerating plastic waste 10GW with advanced chemical flu scrubbers to remove toxic chemicals.  Pumped storage or tidal systems or possibly coal will be needed to completely green the grid.

Electricity is only 20 percent of uk energy usage, we manage 50 percent of electricity at present from renewables maximum, viz 90 percent of our energy usage is fossil fuel based.

The total amount of energy present in weather phenomena, all provided by solar energy, is so great in comparison to the tiny pittance harvested by man that I reckon there would be no measureable effects even with the projected increase in wind farms. Possibly short range effects in the local vicinity of wind farms is all there would be.

I think solar could have quite an effect, hose black panels absorb the suns enery and only 20 percent is converted to leccy.

None really, kinetic enegy that has been created through heat energy will be released once more as heat energy, to create wind once more. About half of the uk energy usage goes toward space heating, not including electrical heating.  Some will be tied up in things like metal production, but this is only a very small percentage. Other energy is mostly cars, planes, hot water and other avenues that create heat, thus leading to energy in the atmosphere.

Creosote is only banned if it is in an area likely to be touched by people, you can get it commercially. The new internet provider company came to my area and installed telegraph poles as we have none, cluttering the area. They have  wrapped the poles in hessian in areas where touching may occour. The hessian has now absorbed the creosote.

I think youbare half right paul, the folding phones are obviously new technology and i can see how it can be justified, remeber the price of flatscreen tvs when first out. The flat phones do not seem to do much more than each other, I guess because the gimicks are getting old, the budget phones seem to have pretty much caught up with the premium phones. I remember when Apple where accused of making peacemeal improvements to allow for further new models in future.

Worst thing about all of this technology is that it is all rubbish.
