I have been reading about these findings for several years now.  I wonder, if in the future, along with fertilizer, if a custom population of biomass will be added?

It is interesting. I've also noticed reports that suggested that trees and plants may have formed a earth-spanning mycelium fungus network. Since the network enables to transfer electric signals, it may enable plants and trees to communicate and create a sort of earth-scale brain.

Recent studies have shown that plants can also talk to animals.

Scientists increasingly believe that trees and plants communicate with each other, various living things, and the environment. Now there’s additional evidence thanks to a new study on “natural language”. Researchers from three Tel-Aviv University schools—plant sciences and food security, zoology, and mechanical engineering—collaborated on a study that measures how evening primroses, or Oenothera drummondii, respond to sound.

In this study, the scientists compared plants’ response to different sounds at various frequencies and used laser vibrometry to measure the vibration of the flowers’ petals. They also evaluated pollinators and flowers interacting in the field.

The research team played sounds like that of bees’ wings beating to evening primroses. The flowers vibrated when they heard the sounds. It’s as if they were listening. But the flowers didn’t respond the same way to every sound, or to silence. When scientists played recordings of pollinators flying past, and other sounds at similar frequencies to those bees make, the flowers answered by quickly producing a sweeter nectar within three minutes.

The term talking and communicating is a stretch.  Maybe stimulus and reaction is defined as talking now.

Can a previous state be defined as memory?   

Do you believe plants have awareness?   An ameba searches and absorbs food......is it thinking about it?  Does the ameba know what it is doing?  Remember what it has done?

Observing the processes in an ameba, poses multitudes more questions than looking at the stars.

The ameba is a much larger universe.   The universe we live in, is very simple in comparison.

Then again, maybe all life has awareness.   Maybe that's what life is.

How would that change things?   Knowing all life has awareness.
