1. they are very very small and called follicles at this stage
2. they aren't fully developed eggs until the woman reaches sexual maturity and even then only one (or sometimes two) follicles matures into an ovum ready to be released.
3. many many follicles die from birth and throughout the reproductive life of the woman.. it's a numbers game..

Letting the fertilized egg develop in the womb allows us to develop our big brains. Otherwise we'd be bird brains [;D]

Okay omid agree on whatever you all've said
but one more confusion [:-\]
why don't women eggs come in shells like hen's ones?????????????? [???] [???] [???]
-
Because they are inside the body all the time thus they don't need that mutch protection from the harsh outside environment.

We also nourish our young inside us, we supply all the nutrients and cell signals needed for growth in the uterus, where as chicken eggs are kept warm but they rely on yolk for nourishment. Hence we are able to 'build' an organism that is more complex (arguably) in design and capable of living much longer than the average chicken!
