Title: Does microwave cooking change the molecular structure of foods?
Post by: Layne on 11/05/2010 12:30:02
Layne asked the Naked Scientists:

I've learned SO much from your programme (http://www.thenakedscientists.com/HTML/podcasts/) - thankful to have you on the air!

I've heard microwave ovens are unsafe because they change the molecular structure of foods.

Is this true and if so just how bad is this for our bodies?

What do you think?

When you boil an egg the clear bit goes white because you change the molecular structure.
Microwaves do the same thing; if they didn't then you couldn't use them to cook food.
