Title: What exactly is proposition?

I heard the news describe an actor that got fired from the set of a movie because he was accused of "propositioning four people on the movie set." I'm getting so many different definitions for the word on the internet. Doesn't it simply just mean asking someone for sex?

Usually means asking someone you’re not in a relationship with or asking inappropriately. Cold calling.
