Can mouthwash repel mosquitoes?
« on: 12/07/2018 09:32:45 »
Brenda asks:

Does Listerine mouthwash act as a mosquito repellent if you spray it around the area?

What do you think?

Sounds like an expensive use of listerine to me!

Hi Brenda,

This is what I came across while researching the OP.

https://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/24/health/24real.html

Credits - The New York Times.
Thanks - Anahad O'Connor.

P.S. - Listerine does repel mosquitoes due to added primary ingredient ' Eucalyptol ' a natural oil but not that efficiently as its only 1% n below whereas natural repellents contain 75% in concentrated form.

Also mouthwashes contain water+alcohol which evaporates a lot quicker in comparison to commercial repellents that are designed to last for hours.

Besides Listerine might attract other humanly bugs.
😘
