Title: How does an electrical rectal gizmo help with sperm collection?

martin kilgore asked the Naked Scientists:
   
I was one asked to authorize (when I was an insurance company RN) a series of treatments whereby a man's sperm was to be pooled by using a rectal gizmo to electrically induce ejaculation. Whenever I ask anyone who might know, whether or not that is a pleasant or unpleasant experiene, they just blush and fall silent.

Can (or will) you provide the answer?

Erm, well I think they may use something similar with our bovine and ovine (sheepy) pals. Maybe ewe should ask a vet.

it is used with some spinal cord injured patients also. I have never heard one complain, however their sensation is either dulled or nulled.. so they may not be the best group to ask.
