soap and water produces bubbles, running a bath and adding bubble bath produces bubbles. so why does adding soap to a bubbly bath reduce the bubbles that are there and not increase the bubble count?

Its the oil in the soap plus the oil on our body.
Terrible fact. But I believe the more expensive bubble bath products keep the bubbles because they are themselves infused with oils.

I have recently moved house an found a stock of ludicrously expensive 'Fairy liquid' washing up liquid which I have tried to use up.
This produes vast amounts of bubbles which make hard work of washing up and I much prefer the £0.17/liter basic stuff that I normally buy.

So...
Just a friendly word from our sponsors. Shouldst thou wish to produce huge amounts of bubbles.... Use ludicrously expensive Fairy Liquid [;)]
However.... One would be faced with yet another problem... and that is ludicrously itchy skin because Fairy Liquid will clearly be chemically engineered to break down oils [^] which means the stuff is going to strip your lovely human coat of all oil.... Then you need to buy ludicrously expensive body lotions or not so ludicrously expensive oils with built in Vit E etc to soothe that itch which is going to drive you CRAZY.
So.... unless you can buy fairly normally priced good quality bath oils with built-in moisturisers...... (Yes, you can buy ludicrously expensive bubble baths that moisturise your skin too.......) er as I was saying.... you could do well to stick to the el-cheapo bubbles [???] [::)] [8D] [;)] [;D]
Have a lovely bath and don't worry too much about the bubbles, unless you are doing a nude shot for an ad or a movie! [;)]
But gotta admit... I LOVE bubbly baths [:I]

Did you think about using less?

What do you think soap and shampoo do?
