Title: Is there an equivalent of a sonic boom with light?
Post by: David Rich on 13/04/2014 12:14:10
David Rich asked the Naked Scientists:

When an object reaches and exceeds the speed of sound, it is followed by a sonic boom as the sound it makes is left behind.

What would happen if an object reaches and exceeds the speed of light? Is there a similar effect occurring, with light? Is it invisible as the light is left behind the object?

Thank you

Regards
David Rich
